well I thought a thread such as this would be a cool addition to this forum. the idea is to make this the place where general arcade news, rumours, and such can be posted. I hope postings of this kind will predominate more than discussion on any given news bit, but that's not to say that that won't be cool either. just hope we can concentrate on this being a resume of what's currently happening in the arcade world. main sources:other websites. there's no going around this. but it may save one the trouble of having to search out info constantly all over the net for latest info.
maybe this can be a monthly - every month a new thread such as this is made? could make these easier to read.
we'll see how well this one goes first.

Lindbergh

ok. first up:
Lindbergh

Famitsu has the scoop on this one. the architecture is Pentium 4. the graphics card is Nvidia.
the first games to be released on said hardware shall be:
an Afterburner presumably made from scratch, a new Virtua Tennis, The House of the Dead 4, Psy-Phi (brought to you by non other than Yu Zuzuki himself), and Virtua Fighter 5.

the Famitsu scan - showing small pictures of the actual hardware itself and various pictures of the games above listed - is on the web. I'll be posting it here if I can find it/someone else doesn't do it first.

edit: here you go people:

Akira looks like the boss of me. yes he does.

WAR OF THE GRAIL

one last bit for tonight: Famitsu also stated that Capcom will be releasing War of the Grail for arcades. it's supposed to be a fighting game or beat 'em up (rumour?). we'll see soon enough. but this could be the game that was thought to be SF4.

edit: new website

Is it ok for me to post in here? Are we just trying to keep it news only?

That lindbergh looks just like the specs of my intel pc... It even looks like it might have a 6800 GT video card. Spdif and DVi out! I hope I can find one of these for a reasonable price a year or so after the first games hit...

Is Psy-Psi going to be a bemani game?

no, it's perfectly fine, but just want the bulk to be news and such. say two parts news, one part game talk. that would mean that he who posts in this thread should also try and participate by providing bits of news and rumours himself. that should balance things out.

I honestly don't think specs matter that much anymore for arcades. as long as they can make the games look flashy and are easy to program, then I think they're onto something. because home consoles and computers have long edged out the arcades on the whole.

and I doubt Yu Zuzuki would make a straight up bemani game, though if its some sort of hybrid it could be very interesting indeed.

That's cool.

I'm just wondering if there will be rom dumps playable on Intel machines... We don't get many arcade games around here, so this would be great. Is the Lindburgh going to be using cd/dvd or hard drives?

Yu is near godlike status to me after Shenmue.

Does it say if thats the actual hardware, or the dev kits for the system, or what?

oh dear, this thread is kind of degenerating into just another average thread. come on people. you can post such questions in threads within this very forum, no real need to do it here. don't want to be a nazi but it's a bit of give and take.

yo.. come on guys.. these aren't even serious questions.

I'll carry on throwing up info here for now, but start your own threads with these issues if you could please. this one's about the new stuff being made/coming out etcetera. would be good to keep it as lean as possible so it becomes a refference point for anyone seeking info or wants a quick read up.

last time I'm posting this up. don't want to be a grouch. but make half worthwhile contributions please, even if they are discussion orientated.

sega videos

head over to
http://www.1up.com/

for decent quality videos of sega's soon to be arcade offerings.
VF5 not only looks fantastic (much nicer than VF4 if you ask me)- wait 'till the end of the trailer to see 2 new characters.
the grappler in particular looks awesome.

DS' influence is felt at the arcades.

Psy-Phi is a touch screen based vs game! looks like your typical midair affair, but you touch the screen to command and fight. cool.

Looks a lot like Psychic Force... the gameplay seems a bit too complicated and not really dynamic.

probably because that business man has no clue what he's doing. I'm sure there's a method to it.
