OK, here's the deal:
Recently I sold a nice PC-Engine bundle for $250 shipped (the package is probably actually worth around $500, not including shipping). I paid for Priority Shipping and Delivery Confirmation. I recieved the money the exact day I left town to be with my family before college began so I shipped the package 2 weeks later when I got home, via Priority Mail, so it would get there sooner. Also, I packed in a Sega Genesis w/ all hook ups, 2 or 3 Genesis games, and 2 or 3 Saturn games I had because of the delay.

Here's the fun part:
Delivery Confirmation says the package is delivered 2 days later. Right on schedule. The buyer emails me about 5 days later saying they never got the package. I check the confirmation number again and it says it got delivered. No biggie, I just shoot an email to USPS to see whats up, maybe there was a mix-up or something. They call me back 2 days later and tell me to contact the postal service at the recipient's address, but regardless according to their records the package was delivered. So I sent a new email, the same people call me again, tell me they've sent an email to the other postal people, that they are both looking into it, and that their records still say that the package was delivered. So they tell me they will call me back. Well they haven't, but its only been like, a day or two. But, the buyer is getting kind of "irate" with me, and I'm not sure what the hell I'm supposed to do here. I can't get the money on the insurance, because the postal people have confirmation that the package was delivered. Its obviously not coming back to me (like what happened that time with dojosky), because at some point it was obviously delivered. In the past, if a package I sent got lost, I've refunded the seller completely if I didn't get any confirmation or tracking, since I took the chance and got fucked over. But in this instance, every one except the buyer is saying the package was delivered, and the buyer is getting pissed, so I have no idea what to do.

If any "trusted sellers" or mediators would like a copy of the emails to check them over, I'll be more than happy to send them (posting the confirmation number is pointless at this point since it has since expired). Right now I'm just waiting, but I'd really like to know what the consensus here is that I should do if all I'm waiting for is "Sir, it was delivered according to our records."

Tell the buyer that there's nothing you can do! There is no proof that he didn't get the package, because the Post Office says otherwise. If he honestly didn't get the package (which I doubt), that's between him and the Post Office. You did your part.

well you should be pissed off. tell the buyer to hang back because even though he may have reason to be angry, he shouldn't be getting on your case - give him the data so he can check it out for himself and deal with it. because it really isn't your problem anymore. as a decent human being you can help out to the best of your ability etc. but the dude should deal with the post office himself if they are at fault - and rip into them rather than you.
that's the definitive way of doing things. I know if I was the buyer and something weird happened I would be straight on the post office's case myself. its common sense to do so. if he is unwilling for X reason, then sorry but he can fuck off. unreasonable people are lame.

if i was a buyer i would be a bit pissed...cause there's no felling like the feeling of being helplessly waiting for a package after day's weeks and even month's

BUT on the other hand if you shipped out the package..and the buyer told you the package never arrived...then you'll feel pissed off and getting ripped off and you know they did it( cause you got the trackin# to proved)!!
I DON'T KNOW ABOUT OTHER CITIES BUT IN MY...
THE POST OFFICE ARE USELESS WHEN IT COME'S TO DOING THE DC TRACKING...SOME OF THE PEOPLE ARE SO STUPID THAT THE JUST DROP OFF THE PACKAGE IN YOUR FRONT DOOR. OR WORST THEY DROP IT OFF ON SOME HOUSE ON THE SAME BLOCK..I'VE GOTTEN A FEW PACKAGE'S FROM MY NEIGHBOUR'S( THE ADDRESS ON THE PACKAGE WAS MY ADDRESS)..CAUSE THEY ARE TOOO FUCKING LAZY TO COMEBACK AGAIN TO GET A SIGNATUER FROM YOU
ALSO I COME HOME SOMEDAY'S WITH 1-3 PACKAGE ON MY FRONT DOOR AND SOME HAVE dc# ON THE PACKAGE....I WENT TO THE POST OFFICE TO TALK TO THE PEOPLE ...THEY DON'T DO SHIT, THEY JUST BRUSH YOU OFF

Yes, plus the package may have been stolen in this case the buyer should have warned you if his mail box is accesible to others. Being an expensive pkg you should have had signature delivery instead, and averted this whole situation if the buyer didn't receive the pkg everything can be confirmed through his signature. Sometimes the couriers mistake signature deliverty w/ confirmation delivery because there similar tags although I think its a lot of bull on their behalf. In any case the courier shouldn't leave a big box anywhere outside the buyers home unless they are certain that it won't get stolen. The buyer could always post a note stating when he's not gonna be there so the pkg won't be left outside. :shame:

I've had this problem too, but with a FedEx guy. He even admitted that he dropped by earlier in the day with my package, but I wasn't home so he went over to the house across the street to have those people sign for it. The people across my street are known gang members and some of them were busted for drug dealing and firearm possesion. Fucking FedEx guy, I'm glad that the neighbors didn't want to sign for it. I may never have seen that package...

Yep pretty damn messed up. I thought I had a similar thing going to happen to me when I sold my KOF 2002 to a guy in DF Mexico.

Check this out, the post office lady told me they don't do insured EMS shipping for mexico and also come to find out, Brazil too. Thats pretty damn crazy. Apparently there is such a problem with postal theft there, which is not suprising due to the poverty levels in Mexico. I am not sure why Brazil though, they seem to have a more stable government I would think. What pisses me off is that the post office website still gives you estimates for these options. Can anybody explain that crap?

Anyway it took like a month for him to get it Global Priority. That had me kinda nervous, but then again he probally knows the risk of him buying something through the mail where he lives.

By the way you did your part, so to hell with it. "Dis I know Mon, Shit aaapens." Thats all I can say. It does sound like he could be trying to scam you, or somebody jacked it off his doorstep if lives a in bad neighborhood.

A personnal experience.

I have purchased a game from Shawn and have it shipped to me by EMS.

3 Days later, I checked my PO's website. It said Enroute Pending Delivery.

By evening, I received nothing and I checked the website again.

Website say DELIVERED!!!!

Pissed off! I called the post office, bastard there said delivered! I say no. REALLY PISSED OFF, I travel the 10km or so to the central post office and fucked the manager up.

Bingo - Parcel was not delivered! It is still with the delivery guy!

I called the police...
