ArcadeGod on Ebay + Japhei + Casey = Scammer

Anyone here dealt with ArcadeGod ?
Seems to have very good feedback, but he's from Florida, want
to make sure this person is not who I think it is?

i saw 'Arcadegod' s auctions a while ago, battle garegga PCB $65 buy it now, plus loads more, it seemed a bit too good to be true so I left it, lucky I did!!!!!!

Maybe the title of this thread should be changed to "ArcadeGod is Japhei" or something like that, to make it searchable so that this worthless POS can't screw over those wise enough to use the search function.

I took a chance and bought from ArcadeGod. :oh_no: I really wanted a copy of SSVS. :crying: His name this time is David Annis, assuming he really is the same person as Japhei. His return address is in Boca Raton, Florida.

Anyway, I had to submit a dispute on ebay to get him to give me a tracking number and ship the game. I waited about 11 days without receiving any responses from him before submitting the dispute. He apologized and said "we are very busy dealing with demand" or something to that effect. Nevermind that I am sure he was communicating with other buyers (I spoke with two) since having received my requests for shipping confirmation. I remember him specifically saying "we" though. We? We who?

Upon receiving the cart, I posted pics asking if it was a boot. So far, the general consensus is that it is legitimate. However, he included photocopied artwork and no box. Boo. :angry: At least the cart seems to be good tho. Check here if you'd like to see the thread about the SSVS cart (with pics). I'm hoping to get more opinions on the cart just in case..

Anyway, if they're the same person, I'm not too keen on the fact that I am supporting his bootlegging :( .. however, he doesn't appear to be scamming anyone on ebay so far.. 60something positive feedback with no negatives. If they are not the same person .. well, be prepared for a rough ride if you buy from him. :loco:

that's crazy...I just sold something to a John Annis from Tampa. The only place I advertised it was here, but even when asked to PM, he sent me an email. So, I guess he's lurking around buying and selling here as always if it's the same guy.

I have an email and home address if anyone thinks there is a real connection and wants to look any further into it.

He was paypal verified etc...and the address is confirmed.

You did a good job man. It pisses me off too.

I mean, selling boots is probably worse because it has the potential to affect the TRUE sources of games we love (developers and publishers), but this latest stunt is pretty fucking bad.

There's no denying the popularity of Cave right now, but as has been said before, you just need patience and the right places to look and you will eventually find a fair price. Unfortunately, it's people with more money than sense and less patience than ethics who will continue to buy shit from Japhei and other shady fucks like him who are just looking to profit off of a niche hobby.

I found these forums late so didn't know better......

I bought an Atomiswave MOBO and games from him, and he was quite helpful with quick replies, tracking no etc.

MOBO arrived on time, in excellent condition, well packed, so from 1 transaction I couldn't find a single fault........ :conf:

However, that said neither am I interested in funding bootlegging... :shame:
Theres just too much bad press around for this guy, so I would be reluctant to deal again... even though I got a +vs 1st impression....

I was nervous as hell waiting for it to turn up after reading all the stuff out there on Japhei though :eek:

i mean afaik arcadegod has a faultless rep, sold lots of original boards etc..
dont get me wrong i think scammers deserve all the shit they can get, but i feel like this witchhunt has gone a little too far.

arcadegod buys up all the boards he can get his hands on and sells them for profit.. capitalism at its peak is definetley morally questionable.. but it doesnt make him a scammer.

that said i proboably wouldnt risk dealing with him.. some people seem to loathe him with a vengeance, id hate to turn into one of those guys..

He mentioned his partner clrh20 [not sure if I spelled that right] on ebay...which, if I'm not mistaken, is a Japhei alias. Honestly, I could give a rat's ass if he is a Japhei associate...I don't like what he's doing and while he has a right to do so it doesn't mean I won't give him unmitigated hell for doing so.

heh, i don't know him so it would be silly for me to hate him. I just don't like mainstream and ethically questionable business practices entering into what i consider a hobby, capitalist society or not. Though i guess at this point videogames are making a lot of money for people and have for a while, so it's kind of pointless to bitch about it.

And you're right, there is no concrete evidence besides the similar communication styles and business practices. GarySheffield was checking this thread out, maybe he'd like to comment? LOL.
