this is the most hell a gay thing i have ever heard!!!
this is 2005 pc have had HD forever. hd tv resolution does not even come close to a good pc video card.
it should not cost that much and nintendo still cant give people 720p?
if nintendo keeps making choices like this i rather see them make games for other systems.

the revolution better only cost $99 at launch. to make up for this crap.

i guess nintendo really only wants the pissy diaper market!!

revolution may need to be call de-evolution :P

No High Definition On Revolution

Quote from gc advance

Nintendo says its next-generation home console won’t support high-definition games.

Today, IGN.com published a story on high-definition and how it will affect the future of videogames, movies and even regular cable or satellite-viewing. In the story, several well-known figures spoke about the subject, including Factor 5’s Julian Eggebrecht and, more significantly for Nintendo fans, Nintendo’s own Perrin Kaplan.

According to Mrs. Kaplan, Nintendo of America’s vice president of corporate affairs, Nintendo Revolution – Nintendo’s next-generation home console – will not support any high-definition formats.

“It is accurate that at this time we will not support high-definition [on Revolution], Kaplan told IGN.com.

Nintendo's Revolution is being built with a variety of gamers' needs in mind, such as quick start-up time, high power, and ease of use for development and play. It’s also compact and sleek, and has beautiful graphics in which to enjoy innovative games, Kaplan says. Nintendo doesn't plan for the system to be HD compatible as with that comes a higher price for both the consumer and also the developer creating the game. Will it make the game better to play? With the technology being built into the Revolution, we believe the games will look brilliant and play brilliantly. This can all be done without HD.

Companies focused on outdoing each other for technology's sake are using the power of public relations to confuse the media into thinking high-definition is a live-or-die part of the games of the future, says Kaplan. It is a technological fact that games will still look incredibly beautiful and play incredibly well without the high cost of making them HD compatible. HD may be one of the technologies of the future. Is it the gaming industry's only future? We don't think so.

why not take the step forward? why the hell release a new system?......
a video game company like nintedo is too small to compete with the new big guns in town.
this is their lame ass/sad way in saying we cant compete at that level.

i would think every game should be at least 720p and widscreen.

did my grandma just join this forum?? hd over rated?
yes if you plan on playing only aes, genesis and snes ect...
the rest of your life. why release anything that looks better ......
i enjoy my hd set. i love the wide screen format , progressive scan and 720p video.
any 3d video at this point needs to be higher than 480I. hell i even have an upsacn converter for my old systems to take them up to 640X480. they never looked better!

play doom3 on pc and look at doom3 on xbox.(hell any new pc game)
the pc ver looks much better on than the xbox ver and thats in 480P.
720P is even blow what the pc ver is runs at.

new consoles always fill the gap between pc advancments
if you want to play next gen games you need the detail.

i dont see how that is over rated.

gameplay > graphics

not always... if that was the case..
we would be playing teh nes or 2600 still....
and jerking off to black and white movies on reels.

any entertainment media always gets better with enhancements from technology.
the closer it is to real life the better. art imitating life......

good gameplay+graphics+sound=the best over all game play experience

the technology is there why settle for less.

if gameplay > graphics is always true just keep making games for the original system...

It's part of the kernow derived strategy to make nintendo less popular.

Are the people behind Nintendo really this dumb?

This is almost enough to kill my interest in this console (that I was previously hyped up about) entirely.

It's a game, not real life.

But yeah, i do think nintendo should have included HD support in their next console, but i'll live with out it. Hell, i'm still using composite video. w00t :buttrock:

maybe in videogames but in terms of television and movies. no way.

would say just as important if not more for games.

it goes hand in hand with things like a more colors on screen, smooth frame rate ect...
it is just easier on the eyes.

i think the bigger the tv set the more important HD is.
crappy mpeg1 video looks ok on a 25 inch tv interlaced and looks great on my 2 inch smart phone screen.
the same video looks like ass on my 56 inch HD tv.

smaller the tv the less of a deal HD is.

what ever nintendo has up its sleeve i hope is worth all this hype...
and is a true revolution.
not a lame ass way to enter the console wars because they dont have anything to offer power wise...
i like all my nintendo systems but nintendo has me worried a bit this round...

i favor the ds and touch screen over the psp.
most of the time i play games at home ill just end up playing my other full consoles.
the ds offers a full new way to play games that you cant play anywhere else.
that is the deal maker for me. i played a handfull of e3 demos that i downloaded from the net and man are some of these new games fun.

maybe the revolution will offer some thing new and fun.
over all i think the key word here is refreshing!
time will tell.

Well you know what - when I was a kid that's exactly how we had to jerk off, except we did it walking backwards, uphill, in the snow...and we liked it!

So just be grateful for what you're getting, you materialistic little bastard.

The complainers should be pc gamers to begin with. Ever since the xbox hit the scene a ton of people expect xbox features on non xbox architecture.

Has nintendo ever really fucked up with a major system release? They deliver, just be patient and you will get the goods.

(Virtual boy doesnt count cause it was always sorta niche)

This speculation will sour you so its just easier to wait it out. Its like the old 'dinosaurs will fly' ad for the N64. When mario 64 hit it blew away the competition in terms of gameplay and appearance.

Just wait and have some faith. You shouldn't be dissapointed. Nintendo has a ace up its sleeve and its smart they are waiting for the major players to pin up first.

HDTV market penetration is still fairly low - especially here in Europe where decent HDTV's are few and far between and also very expensive, so basically you have all this talk of High-Def - but only 10% (possibly lower) of console gamers will be able to take advantage of it.

In fact, Microsofts constant talk of the X360 being "All High-def, all the time" is actually putting some people off because they arnt sure the machine will work with their regular televisions (Yes, I know it will - but MS' P.R. spin isnt making it very clear).

So, as a non-high-def-telly-owning person, I couldnt give a shit.

That's Europe.

Which is about 5 years behind in HDTV penetration.

They've been on the market since 1999 here.

HDTV's are starting to become extremely widespread in the US and Japan so it's really going to hurt them in the long run. I mean I'd be ok with 480p for them not to at least support 480p when the Gamecube did is just fucking unbelievable....

At least a company that seriously consider what gamers want and what are they currently using, that's a revolution.

I don't fucking care about the HDTV. When I light up my cab with Garou, I still think it's a hell of beautiful game. When I light up my SP with Zelda LTTP I still think it's a hell of beautiful game.

So you, graphic whores, are complaining about not having a XXXp game but let me ask you: Will it make your game better? No.

And concerning the fact that if we don't care about graphics, we should still play the NES. I still play my NES and I dare you to find a single game on the Xbox as good as SMB3 or FF2.

Soryy but I have to disagree with everyone else here. HD may not be important in 2D games but Resolution sure as hell helps in a 3D game.

For those of you who dont care becuse you dont care you probably do not have an HDTV .

This is a screw up by Nintendo, just like not going with CD's in the N64, or not having any online games.

3 years from now it will be a problem.

The fact that Nintendo is not following the trend makes their games and supports strangely more appealing to me.
