Danzig vs Danzig 2 lucifuge

I have a really weird dilemma, I cannot figure out which of these two albums kicks more ass, they are both must owns IMO, but I just can't figure out which should inherit the golden cock.

Anyways, I'll let you guys decide, I'm not even gonna vote on this.

Danzig 2 was where the band really started to take off. The material is much more original, and there was a lot more effort put into it.

The first album was good, but the majority of it consisted of barely disguised Zepplin and Sabbath riffs. You can really tell where John Christ's influences lay.

Good comments, I was listening to lucifuge more today.

Lucifuge.

I love Danzig 1 but it still sounds like Samhain, almost Samhain's 5th album. Glenn was still writing primarily punk songs around D1 but the blues and hard rock influences were starting to show. D1 also still sounds like they were using the same production and mixing ideas from Samhain days. Not that that's a bad thing, but they just weren't "Danzig" yet.

Lucifuge was the album that defined Danzig as a completely seperate entity. Long way back from hell, Snakes of Christ, Tired of being alive, Killer Wolf, I'm the one, Her Black Wings, Devil's Plaything, 777, blood and tears,Girl, Pain in the world. Those songs are the complete birth of Danzig. Fat riffs, solid drums, chugging bass and the evil Elvis/satanic Jim Morrison vocals. You'd be hard pressed to find a better written and produced rock record.

Danzig 1 - Danzig 4 are 4 of the most important rock records recorded in the last 20 years.

Lucifuge. Also happends to be my favorite album Glenn's ever been involved with.

I've argued with people before who refuse to accept that Danzig has any Zep style sound to them. Twist of Cain sounds just like a Zep song to me.

The Danzig Album is one of the greatest records of all time, nearly every track on it is fucking Gold fucking classic. Nothing the man has ever done can top it.
