I just started using this technique last night and I was just boobing off with random shit, it really makes stuff sound good. Its tough to be consistent at first, but its one of those things you need to slip into. My goal is to be able to do it without having to slip into it. I'm gonna add this to my practice and start with sweeping later today. Also improv'd some right hand legato's and some power chords why my friend played the friday the 13'th theme.
Man last night kicked fucking ass, I just came out of nowhere with that speed picking and no shit its only last night that I actually started to seriously use a pick.

Fuck thumb/index, the pick improves my speed like 1000 x.

Good night indeed :buttrock:

Some basic pointers:

Buy a metronome. It's a tool that you'll use throughout your life. Now find some alternate picking exercises; they're practically all over the net. Start from the slowest and gradually move up. When you find that speed where you can't play it cleanly, knock it back a bit and just keep practicing it there. NEVER try to play something faster than what you can play. It'll sound sloppy, and you won't ever develop a polished sound. Ever.

I'm suprised you're gettting into sweeping so early. Are you ready for that sort of thing? I didn't approach advanced tricks like that until I had a couple years under my belt. I'd recommend building a solid foundation of your basics before attempting the more advanced stuff. It'll create bad habits that are hard to break.

Im not seriously getting into it, just poking at the idea, im gonna work on single string speed picking. Alot of bouzouki songs use this style, and I wanna get a really consistent picking hand before I graduate to stuff.

I'm in no rush, but I'm doing pretty damn well so far =)
