Aicom's Pulstar - was it really made by ex-Irem staff?

I was wondering if Aicom's Pulstar on the NeoGeo MVS-AES was really made by former Irem staff, programmers, engineers, designers, producers, artists, etc ?

ever since the first previews of Pulstar before it came out, the game was called Neo Geo's R-Type or "R-Type 4". not as an official title (it was always called Pulstar) but in spirit.

from what I've read there were several different teams at the old Irem. some of them, like the one that made Gunforce, Gunforce 2 aka Geo Storm and other games, went to Nazca (or formed Nazca) under SNK and developed Metal Slug.

While another Irem, team, the one that made the original 1987 R-Type, went to Aicom (a team that already existed), and they developed Pulstar.

but Blazing Star was made by a totally different team.

Also, the Irem team that made R-Type Leo was called 'Nanao' and they were not the same Irem team that made the original R-Type. I suppose some of the 'Nanao' team also went to SNK ?

now I might be confusing things, and this one might not be yet another seperate team, but the Irem guys or team that made Irem's Gallop Armed Police Unit (which looks alot like R-Type II) *might* have made or helped make NeoGeo's Last Resort. the city backgrounds look awfully similar.

maybe these were the guys who also made In The Hunt and then Metal Slug?

no doubt I am somewhat confused, as are some of you.

it would be great to get this sorted out definitively, once and for all, from people who actually know, and not just guessing at it or putting out misinformed info.

:D

It is said by many that the R-type staff from Irem made R-type 4 and re-named it PULSTAR when they joined AICOM.

Also some staff went to NAZCA and made metal slug.

Funny you should mention. My friend just got In the hunt for his jp PS1, and I could have sworn that the game was designed by Nazca. Beautiful looking game.

I don't know, but it wouldn't suprise me. Pulstar pretty much is R-Type, which isn't a bad thing.

In the Hunt was a bad ass shooter. Now I know why it resembles MS so much.

I still wonder what the story is with that and how much it changed from its inception to release. It went from being Pulstar 2 to Pulstar Blast (or the other way around, I forget) and finally became Blazing Star. Aicom however pretty much morphed into Yumekobo and Pulstar & Blazing Star did have some of the same staff members.
