Just picked up a busted STV off eBad :loco:
Now when it boots up it tells me what the cart is, and then a patents screen, then goes into a system check "please wait a few secs...." screen dims then nothing excepta a small brief flash at the very bottom of the screen?

Without a cart in the system it displays "error on cartridge press service button to exit" Any idea's?

This is running thru a supergun btw. :help:

I have to look at mine..I think there is a way to tell on the PCBs.

I noticed once there was something different about the two..US-Jap.
I just hope it wasn't below the expansion boards that I put on..

I'll take picks anyway if I find the difference.

Decathlete is region free...it will work on a E, U, or J bios.

Well..I don't need to take pics and I just learned if I'm correct that a third(broken) board is a US board.

Check on the right side of the Bios Chip(socket chip) with the Jamma edge to you..
My US Mb has a Blue(6 pin block) right next to it whereas my Jap board does not have this pin block at all..

Right next to the empty screw hole..

You may be able to see if you zoom up on this pic..

One thing I don't know anything about is Superguns..What volts they are putting out etc..

It may be just a low voltage problem,or a wiring issue.I don't know..

Without a cart in the system and you press service button to exit.....What happens..?
Do you get the white Sega Titan into screen.?
Are you pressing the " right" button on he pcb?..from looking at it if the jamma edge was in front of you..

Maybe the Bios chip is bad or needs to be re-seated..

The board should run with no cart in it....After the "please wait a few secs"...this intro screen should come up and just keeps overlapping asking to "please check the game cartridge for proper installation".
Both my US and Japanese boards do this with no cart inserted.(In Big Red)

I just plugged one in to take the picks..

Did you buy this board busted..Listed busted.?

I just bought a ST-V board listed busted on Ebay for $10.00..Seller stated that it COMES ON WILL NOT BOOT UP CARTRIDGE GOES INTO TEST ETC..
This sucker doesn't do anything but come up blue on screen..
I'm taking the PCB feet off of it and keeping it for spare parts.(if someone wants it as is no pcb feet $20.00 shipped in the US) :D

Hi Tsuyugasumi,

You should look for desoldered pins on IC2 cpu (or IC1 cpu). I had the same problem on my ST-V board with Tecmo World Cup 98.

It's reading the cart so I feel the cart is ok..It's in the dips..
Go into the soft dips and change the settings..

I think you need to change it to One or two player credit in or something.

If you mess around with the setting enough it should come up.
Try to change the credits in..

I had this problem with Funky Head Boxers it would give me that message.(drove me nuts)
The settings on the board were set for a 2 player machine..whereas Funky Head Boxers is a 1 player game..
Changing the setting in the dip to a one player machine made the cart work..

I can check later for you..if you don't find the setting to change..

The boards settings might be set to a 1 player set-up.

Whereas Decathlete is a two player set-up.

NOTE:
I couldn't get Funky Head Boxers to work for nothing and could not get any info on it..I thought the cart was shot..
I just went and messed with the dips one day and BAM it came on..!!! :glee:

Still nothing although the blank screen I have just noticed appears to not be totally blank & rolls up and down with very tight horizontal bars of black and bot so black?

I have run my stv board just fine from a supergun. Plain old Jameco psu...like many mvs guns use.

What set-up are you running it in..?

I assume you have tried moving the adjustmet volume screw/pot on the pcb itself..yes..?

If the POT doesn't work there is also a 4 Pin Stereo connector on the board that you can potentially use.
