Some of you guys already seen my customized joysticks, but for those who haven't:

Well I have been thinking about doing a complete rehaul of my joysticks for almost two months now. But I've been lazy as usual...well my 21st birthday just passed on Saturday and I just spent it in my room as if it were any other day. I realized (now, more than ever :help: ) how dull my life is and I need to get a hobby. So I went out (I actually left my room?! ) shopping today at my local supply store and got all the parts needed.

From lower right to left:
•Real blue and red carbon fiber - ebay $20
•Glue - $5
•1 and 1/8" Hole saw drill bit - to make button holes - $12
•Piano black spray paint - $2
•Proper bolts and nuts - $2
•Drill - borrowed from uncle

First I plan to get rid of the top raised curved bolts (annoying as heck) and replace them with machine style bolts. They have a slanted entrance to a flat top, I picked a size smaller then recommended and they almost snug inside the hole! Even if you don't plan to mod your joystick completely, I think everyone should do this if the raised curved bolts are bothering you. Next, I'll cover the top part with carbon fiber, so the screws wont be exposed at all  The part I am truly worried about is what button setup I am going to do. I already know I am going to move the two white buttons (select and digital/analog) to the back of the unit. But I can't decide if I want a four button neogeo setup, six button capcom setup, or a three button shumps setup. I mainly play oldschool airplane games, and rarely (if ever) play fighting games, so I'll decide along the process.

Welp, I am off to my garage to do some drill work and maybe some painting, I'll update with new pics tomarrow. If all goes well, and you live around or plan to visit around the San Jose area. Let me know and I'll be happy to customize your joystick for dirt cheap, maybe even free (I'm that bored) :eek_2:

Tid Bit: If you need competition joysticks and/or buttons, PM me, I am truly considering installing supers and going to concave buttons. I will sell them for t3h_ch3ap!

One of the problems I had with the Pelican stick (besides cheap stick and buttons) was the button layout.

If I was designing something custom, it might look something like this:

Code:
    (B)(C)(D)
(A) (E)(F)
   (D)

I would duplicate the D button as button 4 and 5. That way with Neo Geo games you would keep the familiar 4 button across setup, and then with Capcom style 6 button fighters would have a 3 +3 setup.

Pelicans are worth their money in my opinion, especially if you buy them used. I went a extra step and got broken ones. I got them for around $12 each, I was lucky that the guy who owned them didn't know how to install a new joystick :kekeke: Welp I just made new button holes and painted them:

It'll be atleast a couple more days until I'm done recoating them. Until then, I'll be gladly waiting for my new slikstiks to come through the mail :mr_t:
