mvs memory card reader/headphones

When I brought my 6 slot Electrocoin cab the 1 and 2 player headphone sockets and memory card reader under the joysticks were all covered up. Since then I have taken the metal covering plates away with the intention of hopefully restoring these features on my cab.

I have located the two headphone socket and memory card areas on the motherboard.

How would I go about making these features work on my machine? Is it just a matter of connecting a lead from say the memory card area on the motherboard to the slot under the joysticks?

It’s not the most important thing in the world, but everything else is pretty much working on my cab apart from these two things and it would be nice to get them working again to make the cab complete.

Not sure if I am right or not but I’m assuming that these features were not as popular in the UK as say in Japan, hence the memory card/headphone slots being covered up???

I take it you have this Memory Card Reader Pcb..
The Two Cables and the 4 pin wire.....?



If so..Then all you need to do is connect the CN 6 & 7 cables(Thick Cables)to the motherboard in the right locations.
And connect the 4 pin plug/wire from the Memory Card reader to the Motherboard ("4 Pin Plug to 4 Pin Plug")
Also whatever (green) Ground wires that may be not hooked up..
Running them from the Metal on the Control Panel to the shell on the Mother board..(Ground to Ground)
They can be bolted to the bottom of the Memory Card Reader PCB on it's holding bolts..(This may be all done already though)(I can provide Pics)

Your going to need a memory card..

The MV-1C sockets are CN 6 & 7, the mobo has corresponding CN 6 & 7 sockets.

btw you can use one and a half standard IDE cables to connect the MV-1C to the mobo, you dont need the original cables.

there are 2x 60 pin cables for the memory card data hook up, these connect to CN6 & CN7 on the mobo. If you can not locate those cables, try this trick with standard PC HDD IDE cables.

The headphone wiring is simply a 4 wire connection. If you dont have the 4 pin plugs, they are easily hard wired.
The MV-1C memory card reader/headphone jack pcb is passive, it requires no supply voltage. The card itself has a 3 volt lithium battery enclosed.

If you have trouble locating the reader board you could always resort to a PCMCIA socket pulled out of an old laptop and use the pin out that Chris has linked to above.
