i checked out the new arcadia today, was a little to lazy to read everything over but basically it introduced parts of the game system (though it did confirm that the game is two character free tag with only one round and the round ends when either of the two characters on one side dies).

1. system : auto charge = the power gauge starts to automatically power up if you
keep your partner in the background (see not tagged in) for a certain amount of time (this is one of the rewards for not using your second character) for a set amount of time (didnt mention how long). basically gives you bar for supers, auto reversals (c+d from kof), etc.

2. system : hyper charge = works the same as above though maybe takes longer?? when you hit hyper charge level (after a certain amount of time has passed) then your character who's waiting will have "hyper charge) beside their name (the bar second from the top that represents your partners energy) and when you finally use them (tag them in) they will do more damage, do more chip damage and have more power bar (the last one i cant remember properly so maybe it was something else..).

3. system : the c+d reversal system = if you do this (kof style) then it knocks your opponent across the screen, pushing the tag button straight after will tag in your partner, the magazine hint this might be the best/most oft used way to tag in implying it's very safe or perhaps allows some kind of tag in juggle (i hope not, i wasnt a big fan of tag abuse in kof2k3). this cost one third of a power bar (which has 3 parts/levels and this takes one level).

4. there was a write up on the two new characters with pics of their moves (yuuki and ai) ai seems to have a fb, a mine drop type thing and some other moves.

5. the second page has pics of new and upgraded moves for six characters, tung has an air super and an air move both of which are new. there were two new or updated moves for moriya, roberts high and low fireballs ala 2k3 though the projectiles themselves are different looking (more like his 2k2 tron disc style ones), new moves for hotaru, a redone move for mr karate which seemed to be ryo's hcb+P totally redrawn but the kanji seemed to be for his dp which one it is i'm not a 100% sure. also a redrawn or new move for mr big where he seems to be twirling the opponent on his sticks above his head, though it reminds me of a throw he has... not sure if its a new move or just redone. i'm very vague today... they also said lots of moves have been redone, redrawn as well as the sprites being redone, redrawn, updated...

6. thats about it, a mid-late jan loke test?

7. EDIT, forgot they mentioned that you get some kind of bonus/effect if you win a battle without ever using your 2nd character.. how that works they didnt give details on but it sounds like they are really trying to come up with new system mechanics for the tag game, a way to balance out the one character dies mechanic and to reward careful use of each character.....

Thank you very much for the information, beelzebubble.

Let's just hope there aren't any buggy/overly abusive tag combos ala 2003.

Thanks man, that's some awesome news. Glad we finally have some clear info on the the gauges. Lets just hope each "groove" is balanced out enough so that one doesn't completely overpower the other.

EDIT: Looking forward to your Loke Test Report as well

also a redrawn or new move for mr big where he seems to be twirling the opponent on his sticks above his head, though it reminds me of a throw he has... not sure if its a new move or just redone.

From your description, it´s Big SDM in AOF2.

Iggy said that according to the new Q&A, there will be more characters in some form, and that the music is being composed by three members of SRZ, SNK's old composers from KOF '00 and before.

FUCK. YEAH.

in some form... strikers?

Apparently they say more characters but aren't specific in what form. As in, more for the default roster, secret characters ala SvC, or boss/es.

This was the part of the article I enjoyed the most -- Yuki and Ai draw most of their technique names from other NEO properties.

The glowing device Yuki wears on his wrist is referred to as a card reader, which he uses to launch a variety of attacks (reminds me of the recent installments in the Kamen Rider / Masked Rider TV series -- makes me wonder if there might be potential for some Gekitotsu Card Fighters references here). "Card Slash" -- Yuki poses with his fist in the air followed by an energy discharge from his card reader (not an attack itself, but it gives a temporary power-up to his other hissatsuwaza [special techniques]). "Bakuretsuken" -- the writers said that they thought at first that this might be Yuki borrowing Joe Higashi's rapid-/multi-punch special of the same name, but it turns out to be forward-rushing punch attack instead (a little difficult to imagine how the animation/movement works for this one, based only on the single photo provided. "Beast Buster" -- a shockwave-punch technique that snuffs out enemy projectiles (the pose resembles Terry's Burn Knuckle, with a sizeable -- but apparently short-ranged -- burst of energy). "Riding Hero" -- the caption describes this technique as granting high-speed mid-air movement; in the photo, it appears that Yuki started on the left, leapt into the air, and used this technique to fire off a beam-like energy discharge behind himself, placing himself almost directly above his opponent (I wasn't exactly sure what to make of this one -- beelzebubble, what's your take on it? Is Yuki using an energy discharge like a wrist-mounted jetpack in order to perform midair dashes?).

"Last Resort" -- Ai has summoned a small (about the size of her head) version of the double-barrelled remote bit weapon from Last Resort. The 2nd pic shows Ai launching a projectile reminiscient of the R-TYPE'ish hold-the-fire-button-a-few-seconds-and-release power shot from LR. The caption refers to this as a followup attack, and it does appear that her opponent is already taking damage from another source (the power shot hasn't hit yet in this pic), but I wonder what the attack is that the power shot is following-up? "Bunshinken" -- Ai sends a shadowy duplicate of herself zipping across the screen (reminiscient of the classic ninja illusionary doppleganger technique, Bunshin no Jutsu). The caption indicates that the button used to activate the technique determines Ai's movement. I wonder if this will work a little like Chizuru's attacks, in which the button-press determined her position at the end of the technique. In the first pic, it appears Ai's opponent has turned his back on Ai in order to face her shadow-copy, which is dashing across the screen in the opposite direction -- could this technique be used as a form of guard-breaker, allowing Ai to attack her opponent from behind when he turns away from her, distracted by the shadow-copy? "2020 Super Catch" -- in this pic, Ai is wearing one of the oversized baseball mitts from 2020 Super Baseball to catch an incoming enemy projectile. The caption wonders if this might mean that she'll be able to follow this up by throwing the projectile back at the opponent.

Are you sure one of these is a super, beelz? I didn't notice any super-ish special effects in either pic, and Tung's gauge is still at level 3 in both of them. For those who haven't seen the pics yet, "Raimeikyaku" is a forward/downward diving midair kick, reminiscient of Gouki's Tenma Kuujinkyaku in the SFZERO series, while "Juujiken" seems to have a similar path of movement, with Tung diving headfirst while crossing his forearms in an x-shape in front of him (very much like the pro-wrestling Cross Diving technique employed by a number of game characters, such as Alex from the SFIII series).

I can't offer too much insight on these, since it's been forever since I played the Gekka/LB series. The captions indicate that the second technique is a followup to the first, and that the second technique can then be cancelled into a super.

The caption points out that Robert's projectile is now called Ryuugekisen [Dragon Attack Flash], rather than Ryuugekiken [Dragon Attack Fist]. The second pic seems to show Robert finishing his Ryuugekisen by standing with his back to his opponent. Does he actually remain facing in this direction until a button-press or lever-direction is input, or was this screenshot taken before Robert could finish the animation and turn around on his own?

Kohou Shippuuken. IIRC, this was the name of his qcb+P, while Kohou was his DP's name.

The caption indicates this is Rising Spear, the name of his hidden super (close, qcf hcb + A) from AoF2, but the screen doesn't look terribly "supery" in this pic.

i didnt read the caption very carefully though the difference between chou hissatsu waza and hissatsu waza is pretty easy to spot :)

According to the Q&A, G-Mantle will not be in the game. They also dodged questions related to its release and what features it will have for AWNET.

Wow. Yuki and Ai sound like some really cool new characters to use. Probably 2 of SNK's best (let's invent some new mascots to old favorites) characters I've seen.

I mean. Come on, how can you resist the urge to beat on people with Neo Geo games? Or at least moves based on old Neo titles. Just as long as people don't go too crazy and start doing it in RL. Like finishing someone off with Last Resort, before grabbing the same-named MVS cart, off the shelf, and chucking it at the person you beat. Please be kind to your friends and your Neo games. Don't start a *cart war*. Keep the chucking to paper, nerf, and/or snow balls.
