So, I'm at work yesterday finishing up shit in my department and I get a call from one of my roomates telling me that our house has been robbed. I go home to find my desk pulled out and a bunch of shit gone. They unscrewed my second monitor off my wall, took my entire top shelf of games (all my PS2, Xbox and Gamecube titles as well as my Cosmic Smash, Ikaruga replay DVD and Criterion Collection Fear & Loathing), my DVD player (which had my Gradius V replay DVD in it as well) and my PS2 that had a flip-top on it (yes, they left my other four consoles behind). They even took a pair of my Nikes. WTF?

Here's the fucked up part: I'm the only one they robbed. My one roomate's room was ransacked, but nothing stolen (we think they were looking for weed). The other roomates room wasn't even touched. They looked over both of their digital camers (both worth $500 and $600 respectively) which were in plain view as well as the more valubale shit in my room. The stuff they stole was for their own use and nothing else. But they can't even play my imports because the dipshits left my boot discs behind.

It's definitely someone we know that has either been to our house or knows someone that has. And that's what gets me the most. If it was some random burgalry, then I'd just put it up to some kids commiting a crime. But someone we probably know? That's fucked. And they did it in broad day light too. My roomate's friend came to our house around 1:00 to walk her dog and when they came back from work at 3:30 that's when they found out someone had been through the house. Apperently, they came in through an open window.

I filled out a police report, but the officer couldn't find any prints or evidence. He put me down for like two grand worth of shit, but I'm not ever going to see any of it again.

So, on top of all this, I've got no monitor to play my games on and Halo 2 is coming out in a week. I'm installing a deadbolt on my door this weekend and doing some monitor shopping. Yay.

oww that sucks. I got robbed earlier this month too.

my sister in law took my car and went out with my mother to one place. they left the car for about an hour and left all their handbags in it. propably they forgot to lock it, and when they comeback, all the money in there was stolen:

- $75 from my wallet
- $135 from my sister in law handbag
- $215 from my mother's handbag
- $435 from my aunt's money (was in one of the handbags)

$860 total. but man, would I be pissed if someone touched my games :( .......

I hope they get cought, and you manage to recope fast.

P.S. - Your roomate is in on it.

if they only took shit from your room, and didn't take anything else from the other guys, i think it's time to find new room mates. who breaks into a place and takes xbox games but leaves expensive digital cameras in plain view? that's like robbing a bank and only taking 20 dollar bills, when there's 100's sitting right next to them. this seems like it was aimed at you. you said one of the rooms was ransacked and nothing taken? maybe they did that to make it seem like they weren't in on it.

It seems to me like the stuff was stolen not for value, but to be used. I have more valuable shit in my room than what they took (well, probably not the total cost of the games they took, imports included). And to clarify, my other two roomates are female, so they don't have video game stuff or electronics. And I don't think they were in on it, I know them well enough for that. I do think someone they know that's been to the house did it though. Just no telling who. I would imagine a male looking at what they took specificaly. But it's almost like they were nice about it. They didn't fuck with anyting else on my desk or destroy stuff. They left my G4 untouched and politely moved my studio monitor down to a lower portion of my desk to they could get the one behind it off the wall.

As for the other rooms, like I said, I think they were looking for weed. People that know us know we all smoke cryp (they did steal mine, it was sitting on my PS2 in my desk), especialy my one roomate who's room was ransacked. They did go into the other girl's room, but only looked in her weed box on her desk and moved her camera from the cradle to her bed for some reason.

As for the window, it was just unlocked. Hell, I didn't even know about it. Who thinks to check all the windows on a large house often? These are the downsides of living with other people I guess. You've got people coming in your house that you've never even met checking out your shit.

Man,that sucks!

Does your roommates have friends/boyfriends who visit them regularly,or do they hold parties there often?

Seriously, this shit sounds like an inside-job.

I also got robbed a few years ago when I was living in PA, and I am sure it was someone I know. I went out for an evening and got back around 11 and didnt notice anything right away for like an hour or so, but then i noticed my playstaion 1 and Genesis missing along with all my games, and a few movies. The thing is, they did it without ransacking the place like they knew what they were there for and nothing else, I had around 500 in cash right in the front of a drawer in my bedroom and it was untouched. It fucking sucks to have that happen to you, especially when you have good reason to believe it was someone you know. It will take you a long time to trust anyone who comes over to your place. You are right when you say you will never see the stuff again, sorry to confirm your distress. One thing to look into is renters or homeowners insurance if the the stuff you have is valuable, but that in itself can almost be robbery.

My roommates both have boyfriends. One, I know wouldn't do this. They just recently broke up, but I know he wouldn't burgalarize our house. Plus, he's got tons of dough so he'd have no real reason to do it. As for the other roommates boyfriend, they just recently got back together and he's the person I keep going back to in my head. I listed off the people that have been in my room (him included) and she said he would never do anything like that. I'm not so sure he actualy would, but he knows people that are into games and he's showed interest in shooters specificaly. If he didn't do it, I'm under the assumption he knows the person who did. But what can I do?

It's definitely an inside job. They had blinders on. Went straight for my room to get what they wanted while a possible other person went through the house looking for weed. I seriously hope I see someone wearing my kicks. :mad_2:

First i'm very sorry to hear this.

IMO, they were likely young guys looking to take stuff for them to play with, just like you said. These guys are likely just your average morons and took what they could understand was worth taking; the 3 big systems they know much about I bet, and games. I bet they took a look at your NEO and thought, WTF is that thing, and left it be. I bet they wouldn't understand shit about how to use a digital camera either.

I knew someone that had been burglarized before too; they took only what they could in a short period of time, that being many PS1 and PS2 games and a very expensive Craftsman tool set. They didn't bother to take his PS2 though, as it was too dug into the entertainment center. Sadly he didn't get his stuff back either, I regret. But it turns out the thieves knew what was in this guy's apartment.

I would be a little suspecious at this point, i'm sorry to say.

Best of luck man.

one of the girls friends (male probally) was over there one night unlocked the window. every one was drunk or stoned so no noticed shit. find the fuckers and beat the ever living shit out of them.

has to be one of the chicks friends or a friends friend.

your gunna have to find these folks your self , cause the police wont do shit.

they knew where everyones weed was kept except the ransacked chick.

so id question the chick whos only shit that got fucked with was her weed box.

somebody knew what that looked like and where it was.
and they looked through the cameras to make sure there were no pics of them selfs on them from prior parties ect.

This is the girls room who's boyfriend I spoke of in my previous post. ^

It's the only thing that adds up. If he didn't do it, he knows the person who did. Also, he's a small guy and whoever got in through our kitchen window had to be fairly small.

I need Matlock. :tickled:

EDIT: Oh, and my Neo stuff is at a close friend's house who lives alone. Besides, I own a 4-slot dedicated. That ain't getting stolen. :glee:

did they check for prints on the cams?

more than likely wearing gloves.

question the room where they knew where the weed was.

its gotta be through this, have the boyfriend come over and see how he reacts.
call him up, see how he is doing, he knows where her weed is, he also knew you had a fatty tv and games he favored right?

you more than likely will have to hire a p. invest.,
but they can do things and get away with doing things that the police cant.

good luck and i will help as much as i can on here.

just find them and let a bounty take care of them.

Man, that's horrible.

I'm not Matlok, but I agree that you should probably take a closer look at your roommates. The best way to case a place that you're going to rob is to actually go inside the house. Knowing the people also makes getting inside a lot easier.

In any case, I'd consider collaborating with your other roommates about either moving, or giving the shady roommate the boot altogether.

I don't think police involvement would be a good idea for this situation.

Afterall, there are narcotics involved in this,ya know?

The officer that filled out the report checked for prints on multiple things. I had some DVD cases and a CD (which is fairly new, been picked up maybe twice since I took it out of the shrinkwrap) that was moved from atop my games and put on my desk. No prints. He was definitely wearing gloves.

As for a P.I., I'm not going to take it that far. I will ask this guy some things next time I see him over though. But I can't just start blatantly pointing fingers. I have to be more indirect about it.

Coincidentaly, we had a party last night with a bunch of people over. Not my party, hell, I wasn't even here most of the night. It's fairly likely that the person who did it was here. I honestly don't count on seeing this stuff again. It just burns me up that it's someone we probably know.

This isn't really an issue at this point. The police know nothing about that part of it.

Besides, the police are as involved as they are going to be. They filled out a report, looked for evidence and found none. Verbatum what the officer said, "This case is pretty much unsolvable." I didn't expect anything from the cops any ways.

Bingo.

Always keep the door to your room locked at all times. You never know who might be coming in and out, especially since you live with roommates.

how far away is your friend with your cab?

maybe you could work something out and move there if security becomes too big of an issue.

if it was my shit i would most likely hire a pi and do a lot of work on my own, its not the value of the shit but the priciple of the thing. the robber needs to learn there are consequences to their actions

this is what happened.

your roommate's bf had been over & seen inside your room and thought 'man i want all this game stuff' and had eventually convinced his gf to help him steal your stuff.. so... it was all planned out.

she let him know the best time to come rob when no one would be home[probably even gave him all your schedules so he could plan out the best time/day to do it], then that day the roommate left the window open and signaled the bf some way letting him know the coast is clear and what window to go through.

and yes, she even told him to mess up her room[or the other roommate's room?] just to make it look like it wasn't directed to you.

oh, and considering just your game/dvd stuff is gone, all the items are either at the bf's house now or at one of his friend's house' for em to play. the gf[roommate] most likely's going over there when she goes out with her bf to play with the stuff to.

i'd suggest going to a surveilance store and see what sort of inexpensive hidden cameras/listening devices you could setup in your roommate's room cause they'll most likely whisper to each other about the event in person or over the phone on occasion.. or just setup a hidden cam in your own room incase of any future thefts.
