Power supply question.

I've just bought an US AES from ebay but with a Japanese power supply (don't ask me how they got put together!). I think it's a US machine because it says 'Neo-AEC' on the back. I've already got an AES power adapter that I bought from a UK Neo dealer (www.telegames.co.uk) but when I plugged it in nothing happens! No picture, no sound, nothing! This is what it says on the power adapter:

Output: 9V 1.2A 10.8VA

Could someone please tell me if this is suitable?

Cheers!

Assuming the plug has the correct polarity for the Neo (positive external, negative internal), a 9V PSU will work on machines that require a PRO POW 3 or PRO POW E power adapter (you can read about that on the bottom of the system). PRO POW or PRO POW 2 machines will need a 5V PSU.

Thanks MKL! I had a look on the machine and it says PRO POW so I need a 5v PSU. I hope that doesn't mean I've fried my machine with a 9v PSU?!?!

Not suitable. The picture shows it outputs 4.5V and 6V (among other values) but not 5V. Also 1.2A is a bit too low.

This would be OK but the polarity (and the size? Please Maplin, more info) of the plug will probably be incorrect. It could be corrected easily though. I'd do it for you if you can't but I'm in Italy. Maybe you can find someone closer to you?

If you look at the faq for that product it says the connector is 2.1mm and centre positive so I guess it's not suitable. No worries, I just thought if it was suitable I could pop down to Maplin at the weekend at pick one up. I'll just have to order a stepdown or pro-pow psu through one of the online neo stores.

Thanks for all your help MKL, you always seem to be around to answer all my annoying newbie questions! Much appreciated! :buttrock:
