I buy new Neo Carts. You can get a new SS1 for like $50 bux. When I came here first, I had no Neo Geo, I just had been playing MS1 MVS at my uncles house. You will soon be the proud owner of a Neo Geo. Im sure, it happened to me. Start with a CD (thats my opinion) because many great titles for less. For example. MS1 on CD is $1000 less than AES. You will evolve onto AES (like I just have) and then maybe MVS. I hope to someday get a cabinet. Keep at it, you can find killer deals in thrift shops, toy stores (I think I saw an AES when I was like 13 for like $50), eBay, or flea markets. I hope you enjoy it here on Neo-Geo.com

I've got AES system and buy 1 cart per month average...but I'm not a collecter so have no plan to buy all or most carts, and my maximum budget is $300 (exclude shipping cost). No matter how new or rare the cart is, I won't buy if it costs more than that.
Anyway, welcome to the forum.

Usually a couple of carts per month.
It depends on carts' prices though.

Would you recomend the CD based system...the 2x speed one? I'd like one...is it worth it? I'm really into Metal Slug...I'd like to get into SamSho and all those other fighting games, you know....and shooters, stuff like that...

(Are load times all that bad?()

Well, the CD system is a good way of playing Neo games without the need to spend a lot of money on games.
Beware though that loading times are really terrible, especially on newer games (with high megs' count).
In fighting games like Last Blade, Samurai Shodown, Real Bout series you need to wait ages between fights.

I had a single speed front loading system back in 1994 and on a game like Samurai Shodown 2 the wait between stages was approximately about 25/30 seconds or maybe even more (i don't remember well, but i do remember me and my brother waiting a lot of time between each fight)
But i heard some friend complaining even more about newer games (Last Blade for example), we're talking about waits of 50/60 seconds.
The CDZ is a little faster but not twice as fast.
If you wanna play well and spend reasonables sums, then go with MVS.

If new games come out, I usually buy them. Otherwise, no more than 3-4 games per year. I'm not a collector either, so I get whatever interests me, not necessarily what is collectable.

I buy a new game whenever I have the funds, which on average is about every month.

I never had any money to buy NeoGeo until I graduated from grad school and got a job. I started my collection about eight months ago, and bought 3 peoples' collection. So far I have 142 homecarts and 3 systems.

I buy whenever a game that I don't have or never played pops up. However, I've budgeted myself so that I don't go hog wild on purchases and so that the wife doesn't kill me. My max spending for each month to Neo games is $1k.
