holy shit! does that mean he reads PCA, flounder?

Quite possibly. Can we say "watch our page-views spike"? :D

Also, seriously, Bobak...can I have the custom handle "Journalism Hero"? That's just too good to pass up.

Summary for those who didn't read the previous 19 pages:

1.) They still print magazines, and apparently some of them are extremely overpriced (and don't even have porn in them);

B.) Zombies and mummies are not the same thing;

IIV.) Stu is some kind of squirrel whisperer;

5.) The practice of trolling just for the sake of being a troll is alive and well.

PS hi, mom. :glee:

Look,

I have been reading this thread for quite a bit of pages, and I too am a fan of the MS series for 7 to 8 years, but since when did fanboy = person who does not like the articles and/or opinions of what others have to say? Even if they are a fan or not? DipshitStu is just expressing his opinion like any other human on Earth on what he believes is good or shit. Why do fans of this console like us have to care about what 1 man has to write in a magazine that has a selective amount of readers? I say let the man write what he wants and he just won't get the attention of the Neo-Geo fan base, which I imagine he personally does not care about that and that is fine because he does not have to care. Don't get me wrong, I personally do not like the response he has taken to this statement about his article, but that does not mean that I am defending him. I am just expressing my opinion on this matter just as he would about the MS series. I apologize if this is tl;dr but what I am trying to say is this: Why do we have to care about what he thinks about the great series that we have grown to love for many years?

It's about how he [and partly the magazine publisher] does his job - not about his opinion. It's important people do their jobs correctly. It's especially important people in the video game industry do their jobs correctly because we are the laughing stock of industry. I'm not having it any more.

I asked Lithy "Do you really think upsetting 4 (I think it four, it might be more, but I could be wrong) people on a forum is going to crush world wide sales of Retro Gamer?
So you're subscribing to the "there's no such thing as bad publicity" theory then? For your sake, I hope you're right.

Possible factual errors aren't the issue with the article in question. I haven't read the article, nor will I. Bobak's post is all I need to know, and I don't buy magazines anyway. I've read far too many hack-y features about games from writers paid to pretend to be experts. If I want to read one gamer's poorly-researched opinion I'll read a gamefaqs.com review.

Surely we can all agree that given a choice between reading a Metal Slug article by someone who played some of the ports for one week versus someone who has been around playing the original games since the beginning of the series, we'll pick the true expert every time, even if that article is full of errors.

The best part of this thread was the squirrels.

More importantly, when a magazine touts an article as "definitive", and the article is less then definitive, then what's the point of calling it such.

ZOMG. The entire internet, right there.

"I don't have the slightest idea what I'm talking about, I haven't even read the forum thread never mind the original feature, but I've got an opinion that I'm going to state as fact anyway, and THEN I'm going to try to make out that my total ignorance somehow gives me the moral high ground."

:rolleyes:

Interesting definition of "expert" you have.

In any other forum, this would be an "in before the lock" and would be about a day too late....

but, well, I just wanted to get in on this excellence.

While it's quiet, could you name some of the bits of the article that were poorly researched? I'm sure there must have been some because you keep referring to them. Stu's asleep, and once we all know them we can totally surprise him with them in the morning! Come on, tell us!

Ah, I've seen this mockery of a website before.

Bangai-O DS game of the year material? As much as it is over used, ROFL.

Wow... having read all 10 pages on the maximum posts-per-page setting, I have two points, that stand above all others:

Four pictures of squirrels is not enough for this thread.
NG.com is disappointing, as it has failed to ask for pictures of the bee that was mentioned in the post with the pictures of squrrels.

I hope Stu hasn't left, as I will be awaiting more squirrel pics.

I skipped the last few pages and WOW.

Everything I wanted to say has been already said, so I'm just posting here for posterity too. Threads like this is why I stick around. :buttrock:

You do know that absolutely nobody has been disputing that they're mummies for about 10 pages now, don't you? Was it hard to brainwash yourself into simply forgetting all the people who pointed out that something could be both a mummy and a zombie?

You're one seriously unhinged little stalker.

Glad somebody joined back in, I saw Sam lurking but he must be tired. It was getting boring in here!

I contend that they can't be both zombies and mummies. So you are wrong, Stu is wrong, Darran is wrong.

Anyone who disagrees with me in any way is wrong.

And stalker? So harsh, I believe I'm the one that has spent the last 7 years on this board. So I'm not sure what I'm stalking by participating in this hilarious thread.

Ditto. I skipped over reading News & Rumors for a few days and I totally missed out on this epic thread.

It's good to know that neo-geo.com still has the potential for massive drama. This thread easily rivals many pre-SNKP era shitstorms.

I would love to read the article in question, but I don't believe they sell Retro Gamer around here. I'll have a look at the Barnes & Noble just in case.

Also, Slug 1/2/X/3 are the only ones worth playing. Everything after that is a minor distraction at best. Time spent with the sequels would be much better spent with the first four titles.

Looks like eraserhead has a posse

Many of those scribblers have one.

Ah well, nice thread. That Stu guy is a bit too aggressive for my taste but he delivered a good show, eh.

Oh, and...

No.

I don't care if you can have me sent to siberia. You're just wrong...

Anyways, can we all at least agree on one thing; that gaming "journalists" are bottom feeding, hydrocephalitic, elitist losers who take themselves way, way too seriously and are one step away from manning the register at Gamestop?

2 > X, suckers!

As true as this statement is, being a mod of the world's foremost Neo-Geo website. I believe we need your take on mummies and zombies.

Personally I'm all mummies>zombies.

The nice thing about Barnes & Noble is you can grab any book or magazine, read it, and never have to buy it and they don't care. I usually take things I'm iffy about to their Cafes and read them over a drink. The only thing they don't like is people doing that with newspapers.

So this works out as Barnes & Noble happens to be the only place I see it in the US (though even then it's only some): if you're curious about the article, but are hesitant to fork over twice the amount of any other magazine, just page through it at the store. Barnes & Noble doesn't care, you can make your own decision: freedom at it's best.
