I would love to have an neo-geo aes system, but it is so expensive! I really want to get it for the metal slug games, and some fighters. So what is the cheapest price, and why are the games and the console so expensive?

the console itself can be found pretty cheaply but models which are prefixed 'super' have had modifications done to them to make both sound and picture quality better

Wrt prices of games - basically the neo home system is just a base unit all the technology is in the carts and you basically have to pay that everytime

Again some games can be found at great prices and even some of them are excellent

And the other well they are just collectors items - but that happens with some games on other systems

Radiant silvergun anybody

too long answers for your questions..

YOu can find good deals on ebay.

They are expensive because they are not for everyone, also because of their rarity, Metal Slug games beeing probably the most expensiest of them all.

Although I don't think this will even come close to NeoBomberman price, I found mine on ebay for only $314.00 shipping included from someone in Japan, and my came with Art of Fighting 2, Samurai Shodown 2, and World heroes. But if it's a deal you're looking for, than I'd contact NeoBomberman, practically everyone I talk to from this site buys from him.

I think I know what you're trying to say, but seriously, it's only for people who have a right to play it. Anyone emulating or otherwise bootlegging has no right to be playing it; it's not FOR them. They may still play, but not rightfully. It may be too bad that some people can't afford the games, but then again, I'm sure that anyone who wanted Neo-Geo things bad enough could save up with enough drive. Anyway, if someone was desperate enough I'm sure they could find someone on the boards who lives close enough to them that they could meet up with to play some Neo-Geo with. There ARE options. Most people don't like to put that much effort into their gaming though. Maybe the Neo-Geo really isn't suited for some people!!! (And let's not forget that if a million people suddenly decided they wanted to collect for the Neo-Geo, they'd be in for a surprise to find out that there are not enough copies of the games in the world to accomodate them)

To address the original post... I'm sure you could find someone who will say they got a Neo-Geo for like $10 at a garage sale or something crazy, but in general the lowest amount you'd get the system for on ebay would be about $140 or so. Maybe once a year some shmuck has a BIN of $100 or something, but then again I would be scared of its condition if the person is too lazt to even do 5 seconds of research before placing the thing on auction.

If I can't find a replacement AC Adapter for my AES, it may soon be put up for sale. I can't keep a system that doesn't work and may consider selling it cheaply if I have to...

I can still get systems here you know :) Still can't believe that auction, $300 for all that (1 bid), but oh well. Business has its ups and downs.

Everyone complained forever about how the system was $300. That is total bullshit. For a loose system you can pay as little as $200, sometimes less overall if you get package deal, or just get lucky from hunting a lot. Metal Slug games have held their value tremendously well due to their quality as the best action-platform series, and due to their popularity amongst collectors.

Fighters you can get cheaply enough these days that a lot of them are actually on par with new games on other consoles, price-wise. Depends on the condition you want your stuff in. Deals are out there, if you actually look.

Over the years, I've managed to purchase at least 4 different Neo Geo AES systems. Each time, the price was VERY comparable.

The first one was a core system (with all attachments and joysticks) with Samurai Shodown & Magician Lord for $150.

The second one was a core system (by itself) with all attachments for $125.

The third was a system (complete) with Neo Geo Box and seven games for $275... and they wound up selling me another system with a carrying case and eight more games for another $275 a few months later. :D

Usually, purchasing a bare bones Neo Geo AES with joysticks and attachments would go anywhere from $100-$200. Unless it comes with Bios and/or S-Video Mods (or any other known modification), it shouldn't be any more than this. For anyone looking to get one, I do know a store in NYC called Multimedia 1.0 that usually has one or two in stock. They have a tendency to be a bit pricy, but usually their systems are not so badly overpriced. Their games, however... they do charge through the roof for them, so watch out!

If anyone wants a list of their inventory, let me know... I can swing by today and let you know what they have and possibly play the "middle man" for a transaction. :)
