I personally prefer ICQ.

Think for yourselves!

I've been considering getting ICQ, but I have AIM simply as a back-up messanger service, mostly beacuse my own ISP's messenger, the MSN messenger, just plain sucks. It never works properly, even right now as we speak it is not in operation!

If I'm not mistaken, AOL now owns ICQ, which could explain why the client went from being fairly slim to overly bloated and packed with damn near USELESS features. I still use ICQ some, but I really don't like it. Also, AIM is the king of the IM heap (in terms of # of users) by far, it would seem. People are naturally going to go with whatever service the majority of their "friends" use, and in most cases, people use AIM.

I hate AIM with every fiber in my being.

I've had an ICQ account as long as I can remember and I never use it anymore.

First: No one uses it. When I first got ICQ I couldn't get ANYONE to download it. No one. Then 4 years later everyone was on AIM so...

Second: No Porn Bots on AIM, at least not as many. I got hit by one a couple days ago.

I don't use Trillian because I'm pretending like it's bad luck. That and, as anyone who knows me will attest, I write a lot...almost spuriously. In AIM you can add a line break by holding SHIFT and pressing Enter. You send the message by pressing Enter. With Trillian you hit Enter and it sends a message, you hit SHIFT and Enter...it sends a message. So it messes with my Rhythm, don't you know.

Actually you can change the prefs so that Trillian behaves like what you described. It's in Prefs > General > Windows > Edit > Sending Messages > Shift+Enter -Send or -New Line radio box.

PLUS... no ads makes me happy.

i use both , but now i use AIM slightly more often.

1. It saves you name list on thier servers, so you can use it on anyone's computer and still have all yur names.

2. No Pron Bots on AIM
