Would it be possible to make the Neo Geo AES Home Cart System online?
Such as it's own Neo Geo 56K modem.
Are there any petitions (towards Playmore) going around about a topic like this?
I hope so cause this would be wicked if it ever happaned. To fight other Neo Geo fans Online would be sweeet!!!

The Neo Modem was planned, unfortunetly it was not for playing games, and I promise it was not a modern bitrate (probably 2400 baud) I would imagine a proto or two remains, but not much more then that. These scans were given to me by a member here, I am sorry I forgot who :( . Also, there was a rumour that Minassan was supposed to support online matches, but it was removed last minute... it is said that some Minassan carts contain a modem. I have had four minassans, never saw a modem... I think that rumour is false.

very nice nruva

good find

.. how about the joystick over IP method..

one of the 38 sonics mentioned it once, but he said he couldn't build it.

just have a client/server like kalliera maybe

That would take some engineering... The only person I could think to do this would be Arcade, since it is going to take knowledge of the joystick in order to make the mock up.

Maybe we should start pestering him, the modem could just do peer to peer, connect direct to an ip address :) I am thinking of cool ways to do this, maybe we can get a mock up design and pitch it to the different Neo engineers here,

hmm, the actual protocol/client/server I could grapple with, as I have a bit of c/socket experience.

I'm no tech genuis like some of these guys, but I think, realistically speaking, the best we could hope for would be something like KOF port that supported XBox Live, or that CVS game that is due out. But if someone could get the AES/MVS online I would go ape shit.

as i would see it, you would need a "box" to plug into the neo's controller port, for a start.. then you would need to work out the correct signals and test them out for each button etc.

after that, its simply connecting that "box" to a pc running linux more than likely (ease of development, more suitable for this application) and running a server on it.

the client would then connect with his joystick->signal device "box" and transmit packets

packet format would contain the context of the stick, which directions/buttons pressed etc.

thing is, fighters poll the stick 60hz i believe, and the update etc might be too slow, doubt it though.

just need to design the joystick->signal convertor and vice-versa, the software is easy(er)

blab blab ramble

(like its THAT easy) :D

i could see an x-band like thing going on a cartridge, that has online capabilities and a built in hard drive. and kind of a sega channel type thing gamers can download the game they want, play it for a week and then it gets deleted. there'd be a monthly fee of $9.99 for the service. and hardware upgrades could be possible, like a new hard drive or even broadband. it'd have to run on linux, and very few people know how to operate linux.

Hey "nruva" we SHOLUD do a mock up design and send it to either !Arcade! or Playmore or any other engineering company that suports the Neo.
We should definately think about it!

The Neo Geo will evolve!
The Neo Geo World as we know it will chande for EVER! If even possible for a Ethernet! How sic would that BE!!!!!!!!!
