I am wiring a headphone jack to a 4 slot and want to output the sound in stereo. The 4 pin is suposedly set up like this "+--+".

My question is...

what wires go to what?

On the back of the headphone jack there are 3 pins.

1)a short silver pin labelled #1
2)a short gold pin labelled #2
3)a long silver pin with no label

So which pins on the back of the headphone jack get the "-" and which pins get the "+".......???

thanks!

Isn't there already a headphone jack on the 4 slot? I remember there was when I had a 4 slot. And the headphone jack is already in stereo. Can't you just use some sort of phono plug or something?

That link takes me to the manual...and maybe I am missing something but I don't see where that tells me what is what as far as where the left and right audio and the ground wire goes.

And only the 2 slot has a built in headphone jack.

On the back of the headphone jack there are 3 pins.

1)a short silver pin labelled #1
2)a short gold pin labelled #2
3)a long silver pin with no label

So which pins on the back of the headphone jack get the "-" and which pins get the "+".......???

thanks!
anyone?

the shorter ones usually are left and right (+), the longest one ground (-).

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

one last thing:

Do I hook up one wire from each "+" on the 4 slot to it's own "+" on the headphone jack? Or should I split one of the "+'s" and lead those to the 2 "+" pins on the headphone jack?

that should just about do that for this part, thanks loads!!

one + to each, since they're seperate channels. which ground (-) connection you use doesn't matter.

Yes that is the proper layout for the 4 pin stereo audio out.
