This may sound a bit ignorant but I'm fairly new to the Neo Geo and even newer to arcade stuff. What exactly is a candy cabinet, what do they look like, where are they sold and how much do they cost?

links to pictures would be cool
Thanks

I was looking to buy one a while back from a guy on ebay. He had many of them, and was selling for $379. They are sit down units, and a bit smaller than the average units, if I understand correctly.

I'm new to arcade stuff too.

Why is it when you buy a cab anywhere, it's usually JUST the cab? It never has the PCB?? Dude, that sucks ass.. It's like buying a game without the instruction manual and box, or buying a car without seats, a radio, and an air conditioner.. You're not getting the full benefit.

They are prize cabinets. Each time you get 1,000,000 points, it dispenses a candy bar. They are redemption cabinets.

Well, I suspect it has something to do with cost. If you already own arcade boards and just want a cabinet to install them in then paying for a cabinet with a board inside would cost you more. But yeah, it would be cool if more cabinet sellers would throw in a board (ANY board) just to sweeten the deal a bit more.

That's a neat idea.

Every time I search for "candy cabinet" on Google it returns all kinds of pages regarding penny arcade vending machines that dispense candy or those crane prize games. But so far I have yet to see a picture of any information regarding the Candy Cabinets.

The only problem is that any cab seller worth his salt would not ship a cab with a PCB in it. Most who know what they are doing ship them in static bags in padded envelopes in a box full of peanuts. Man cabinets do not anchor the boards to the inside, but mearly have a spot for the board to rest on those little feet. It all comes down to convienice, cost, and saftey for the board.

I played a pinball game once that gave out baseball cards for high scores. Wish I could remember what it was called.

The best thing to do is to buy a cab that work with the system who want (MVS,CPS1or2,Jamma). Try it before buy it!

If you look around you can get a good candy for $350 minus games. I got my cab for $200 and paid $77 for a 4 slot board

I never played a Neo Candy but what I could see from pics is that the controls are tooo small for heated Samuri battles with my friends .I hate getting elboed in my side every time they do an uppercut.I'd stick with a big wide control panel!

If you checkout the 6 slot service manual on hardMVS it covers the MV25UP-0 and the MV25TA-0 in detail (but black and white)

I must admit, that this is very odd. I'd love to get a hold of one. I bet the bastard is very heavy.

Here are some pics of my Candy. Unfortunately, right now it is in pieces in my loft. I have to take the thing apart to get it through my doors.

Well yeah, I didn't mean have the board installed, I just meant that rather than just selling the empty cab you might as well throw a cheap board in (into the deal, not the cab) to sweeten the deal.

heh, whatever he was unknowingly telling a half-truth. There really are cabs that do that apparently.

Are the Candy cabs as heavy as any other wood cab?

I dont think they are as heavy. The shipping label I had with mine said it was 250 pounds. That 250 included all the packing material around it as well.

The thing is super easy to take apart. So I can pull pieces off of it and can carry what I can. Not bad at all.
