NAM-1975 is the sentimental favorite for me because it brings back a lot of cool memories. It also has great cut scenes between levels which is rare these days.

In terms of technical achievement, I would probably go with MotW. Twinkle Star Sprites and Magical Drop 2 are also up there if you are into cutesy stuff.

Blazing Star- Man this is an awesome Intro.
LB2- It's Last Blade, the art is so damn sweet..
Metal Slug 1- I love seeing the Slug load up and shoot. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0"> That's just me though....

Actually, number 1 is World Heroes 2! Nothing was ever so short, sweet, colourful, masterfully scored, and able to get my blood boiling for a fight! That's an intro I always sit through, no matter what. So many other great ones though, like MIE, FF3, NBM, Pulstar & Blazing Star, and so on.
