HELP! Malfunctioning Neo Geo CD Controller (Left Direction Does not work)

I just received a used neo geo CD controller from ebay

and when I got it DOWN did not work


So I dissassembled it and took a look around

looked really good, not dusty or anything, and the wires soldered to the board looked all good... not frayed or anything


I blew on it and tried to clean it out as much as I could

but I could not get the directional pad/stick portion out, I tired pinching the littlle tabs, and even tried using a pliers...

How can I take the Directional part off of the board and the front of the controller so I can look at it

BTW when I put it back together Down worked kinda poorly, but the more I played the better I got

and for a few matches of Last Blade it was perfect...


then LEFT started to not work

I took it apart again but no dice...


ANY HELP PLEASE?????

I'd really appreciate it

pop in a new cherry swith. They're only about 87 cents or so.
