What is it with Youngstown? It's gotta be the only small city in America that somehow makes the news.

If the United States America cannot weather a Donald Trump Presidency, for better or worse, it doesn't deserve to exist as a country.

I almost want to change the thread title to "When did Evil Wasabi become a dumbass?" I always thought he was a pretty smart guy- but the NAIVETE with which he parses politics is laughable for a practicing lawyer.

How truly savvy can a person be if they really think Donald Trump is being genuine and is really planning on building a border wall? Or banning Muslims from entering the country?

There is zero chance Trump could ever get elected president if, after winning the republican nomination, he didn't swing immediately to the center. This is what the dumbass republicans think is going to happen, which is why they are trying everything they can to stop him.

He's going to change his tune once/if he gets the nomination- just you guys watch.

As a side note: I was discussing politics with my father the other night (who, like my mom, I don't live with btw) and he finally, grudgingly agrees with me.

Temporarily banning immigrants/refugees from Muslim nations isn't that wild.
We've done it before.
Both Jimmy Carter and Bush Jr. enacted a temporary ban.

Building a wall on US soil is far less expensive than, say, digging a fucking canal through Panama, especially since we CAN make Mexico pay for it by impounding remittance payments (Mexico's income from these payments exceeds their income from all their oil industry combined).

They'll pay, or they'll never get that money.

Nothing you're said has invalidated what a president can, and has done.

A wall to keep out immigrants will work about as well and as long as the walls they built in Pacific Rim.

Perhaps I should have gone on and added more about the situation, but I am always trying not to flood posts with more tangential stuff than I already do. My dad is a conservative, identifies as evangelical, watches Fox news, was supporting Cruz but now backs Rubio. He's very intelligent and learned, but he's also extremely contrarian and argumentative when it comes to conversing with me. Debating with him keeps his brain from turning to mush, which is good for an 82 year old. I'll record one of our political discussions and post it here. None of my friends like talking politics, and they wouldn't be as good at it as he is anyway.

I have always made up my mind for myself on every individual issue, and am generally a left leaning centrist. I like to see both sides alternately taking power to keep things balanced. I loath radicalism and it's pious twin fundamentalism, and advocate pragmatism in politics. And yes, I think George W. Bush was an incredible dumbass and that the Iraq war was an incredibly stupid, ill thought out move in retrospect.

But the some of the current direction of the left, along with career-dumbasses like the Occupy movement bug me. Utopia is impossible without Empire.

What am I going to do when this fucker becomes president ? Plus I don't want Hilary to be president either.

You know...for a moment in my life I thought; Hell, why is shit getting to blatantly cheesie?! As in how do people put up with so much bullshit...then I thought perhaps this is the way it has always been and I have just become somewhat intelligent enough to see it...back in Colombia as I used to conflict, to people fighting over their idea of what's right for better or worse...I mean who am I to decide what's right or wrong anyway, I was just a misguided kid, lacked purpose, I was easily influenced to make the wrong decisions...but that's another story, my point is...once I got here I didn't noticed it a the beginning...Clinton was in charge...a lot of things seemed fine, lots of people were complacent...it's politics though there's bound t be malcontent but nonetheless things were ok....forward the Bush Jr. mascaraed which granted him rule over the government not just once but twice...in good old Jeb's domain nonetheless and people just took...911 happened and people just took it...the economy went kaput and people just took it, monopolies started rising again after Clinton's dissolution and people just took it...the US made a path through Afghanistan to inevitably end up finishing Daddy's work (Bush Sr.) and people just took..."for freedom" they said...lol...everything that's happening and people just keep on taking it...it's amazing to see how docile and moldable people have become...and I understand though, I ran from that mindset to challenge authority...I mean...I do it a lot here but that's just stupid silly internet BS...what I'm talking about is what this country use to mean in the eyes of a foreigner like myself (Born in NYC but raised in Colombia) this was supposed to be the place where people where bad ass and didn't take no for an answer...some still do...those on power...not the rest...the rest are just happy with their gadgets and materialistic lives, it's true, including myself...I ran though, I'm done with violence...I'm just looking at the situation from a distant perspective...it is sad that we all feel discontent and yet no one does anything about it...perhaps this is what it always have been and it's easier to see now more than ever...so, yeah...enjoy this ride as another spectacle 'cause that's what you people need, to be entertained...
