The NeoGeo 68000 MHz even when you can overclock? It's just curiosity, I saw that about 20 MHz and reaches 2 MIPS, why I would try to see where comes the 12 mhz greetings.

If the question is, is it possible to overclock - yes it is, I wouldn't recommend it on the Neo Geo. You just risk killing hardware ultimately. It's not like its an Amiga or something where there's benefit to a faster OS, faster 3D games etc. The only real games that need a speed boost are Metal Slug 2 (which has a turbo mod now anyway) and Shock Troopers 2.

The problem is he is still trying to gauge CPU speed with a unreliable millions of instructions per second calculation and quoting stuff that's way off (68k at 20MHz would be around 4Mips). He does not understand what MHz equates to in relation to the 68000 instruction set and the follow on effect.

He has been bringing up this same question for almost a year now and is still quoting incorrect information to try and get an answer to it even though he has already been told the answer he is looking for many times.

The NeoGeo 68000 CPU at 12MHz is around 2mips. The Neogeo system overall would be around 2.7mips (including the z80).

The CPU is 2.1 MIPS and adds z80, or work in parallel? Greetings

The problem with overclocking is that even though the CPU is faster the other factors come into play, you get graphic glitches on certain games. Games like MSX to MS5 run great at 16mhz with no glitches but older games like FF1 will have glitches at anything over stock speed.

Both run at the same time. I suggust u stop trying to ask advanced question without first understand the sytems basics cause you are just confusing yourself.
