Typically if you pick up a 2i or JoJo's set you'll need 2 additional 128 MB SIMMs for 3rd strike. These things are kind of difficult to find and can be expensive.

I have it on good authority that a modder is looking into the possibility of some reproduction 128 MB SIMMs for the CPS3 board. The target price for this is $35 per SIMM.

I don't think the cps3 hardwire checks the device ID of the flash chips and even if it did it can be circumvented in software so the only obstacle is motivation.

That's the idea. They're striving for a near perfect reproduction of the 128 mb simms only.. if there's any interest in other sizes then the other sizes will be discussed. 128 MB SIMMs are harder to find due to the low amount of games that need them.

A guy in Europe was making repros using NOS chips but he ran out and started using different chips and it didn't work. He asked Darksoft to modify the bios to accept the new chips. The current bios recognizes Hitachi and Fujitsu for sure.
