How popular are replacement labels?

Did you use normal printer paper and use something like a glue stick as adhesive? Or some product like "sticker paper"?

I used a gloss white sticker sheet from onlinelabels.com, item number was OL159WS, it's a split sheet. They might have one that is all one sheet now. And it was for a laser printer.

The printers I am using will be die cutting each sticker from a solid sheet of adhesive backed vinyl. The die cutter will only cut the top layer of vinyl and leave the backing layer untouched so that I will be able to "crack and peel" instead of getting each label individually

Sounds good dude. On some printers the gray area of the label comes out kinda pink so you may need to adjust some.

From what im told it will be the same printer that is being used to print the mini's im making. I will give the printers a heads up just in case. When you printed them and they turned out pink, did you use PS to print them? I noticed that the mini's and the labels bring up a dialog box when opened with PS or GIMP saying something about the color pallet or settings being sRGB and asking to convert it. I always say not but im wondering if that may have been the cause?

Thanks for the info! That's exactly what I was looking for.

Call me old fashioned but I personally prefer the original style labels. To anyone that has printed their own, what sort of paper or vinyl did you use? I plan on printing my own soon to replace some horrible looking labels on a few carts. Any specific brands/products to check out would be appreciated.

I have to agree. I don't mind when others use replacement labels, but personally I would rather have the original label even if it's ratty and crappy-looking for the sake of keeping the cart original. Now, Shock Boxes on the other hand...

*edit: I certainly don't begrudge anyone who does replace labels. After all, some of those full color replacements look way better than the originals ever could.

Yeah I wouldn't replace an original label unless more than 75% of it was already missing or defaced. I have no qualms with replacing a repro label though, obviously.

I'm currently struggling with this question myself. I really like uniformity in my collected items, and love keeping my carts in the shock-boxes. My labels are all over the place though, and I might be getting some Japanese carts soon... I feel like if I'm going to do a few carts with snazzy new labels, I might as well do all of them. I dunno. I worry about "ruining" something authentic, but I love uniformity and clean stuff.

Willingly destroying MVS labels is one step away from putting authentic SNK inserts in a paper shredder, don't do it ! I can understand if the label is thoroughly trashed, but to destroy a half-way decent, authentic label is the devil's work.

No one should ever be destroying original labels to put a replacement label on if the original label is in good shape. For those that stick out like sore thumbs, either sell it and get one that fits or apply a medium to standardize your collection i.e. shockboxes, kit boxes or even Windy Sleeves viewed from the spine label.

I'd like to see the finished product for sure...I bought a full set of replacement labels a few years back from neotropolis...worst money I've ever spent in the hobby. Talk about cheap.

This. The windy sleeves are pretty nice to begin with, with labels they would look great. I think that's a much better solution than changing/replacing lables on the carts themselves.

All my carts have original labels with exception of two carts that already had replacements when I got them.

Yeah, I've no interest in replacing original labels no matter what the language on them as long as the labels are in decent or better shape. If they're trashed or already have a crappy replacement label I do want to replace them.

And I'd certainly love to use those fancy full color ones. But they'd be very different from the rest of my carts with original labels. And that would trigger enough OCD to not use the color labels on my carts that need new labels.

Although I'd love to use those fancy full color labels on those Windy Sleeves spines for the kit sleeves they are planning on making. That is if/when I ever end up with any kits/kit boxes.

Picked up the first sheet today and all I can say is holy shit batman! The quality of these prints is 10x better then I hoped for! Pictures just cannot do these justice! So to help get my point across I will be giving away 2 of the labels to the first two people that speak up! You can choose one label and I will ship it to you all on me! You get label, give your opinion on quality, then you keep label! And here is the picture of the first sheet. Puzzle de pon! is mine so any others are up for grabs!

That was quick. What'd it cost ya to get that sheet done up?

And I wouldn't mind seeing these, but I do not have any of those carts.

Honestly if I can get the prints in before 3pm PST, I can have them next day 90% of the time. If not they let me know within 30 mins of submitting prints. As for cost, I will have to plead the 5th on that one. I wish we could mix and match the prints instead of going off the order they are in. Im sure the printers can do it, but then that adds boo-ku bucks when they have to open up PS to do anything more then verify measurements!

EDIT: I would also like to add that I am having them look into reproducing the whole marquee across the top of the MVS. They are looking into how difficult it would be to adhere it to optically perfect plexi glass or a similar alternative.

EDIT 2: People have been interested in the printer being used. I found out today it is a Epson solvent printer, It is NOT an inkjet. Also the prints produced from this machine will last (if kept out of the sun) upwards of 75+ years! If anyone is really interested in it here is a link to said printer

I'm still looking for nicely printed labels like the original style ones that are on Xian Xi's site. Though probably w/out the NGH numbers on them as he said they can easily be taken off.

What label is between Puzzled & Ragnagard? I can't quite read it from the pic.

So am I! Was lucky enough to get a Last Blade 2 cart with English label from dubdubdub some time ago, only it's partially ripped off. Didn't bug me at first... but does now ^^ I'm only looking to replace the missing part of course. Had 3 local places print some up, but the quality was miserable and it would've looked even more terrible next to the legit part.
Spoiler:
lb2.jpg

As you can see the protective foil is coming off at some parts as well... any ideas on how to "reattach" it and get the dirt out of there? Doesn't annoy me really, but if there is an easy fix...

skinny: If you do the ones by Grizz9567 without NGH# in the future I'd be very interested in one LB2 replacement ;) As Xian Xi said, the NGH# can be removed super simple with PS, it's just a layer you have to take out.
