I've never seen both side-by-side in person. I've read that the slim has a different, slightly improved TFT/LCD on it. Can anyone comment on the difference in the screens? Is it noticeable? Maybe post a pic of them next to each other.

Has anyone here front-lit a Slim?

I realize I could dig and trudge through search for these answers, but lets face it. This section of the forums is kinda'.....slow.

I prefer the slim over the original. Feels more comfortable. I had never heard that it had an improved LCD screen, but I switched to the slim when they came out.

I'm having a front lit kit done on my slim and should get it here soon.

Ive owned both. Prefer the fat.

Difference was minor in terms of size. And its much more expensive. I was actually pretty dissatisfied with the purchase to be honest.

I never really noticed the difference in the screen quality, both looked the same to me, but I prefer the slim, feels better while playing

I had no idea a NGPC Slim even existed. Very, very interesting.

Never got hands on a slim here in Germany back then.
I own 2 normal NGP Colors and one NGP i got a few weeks ago. I can only say games and Neo Geo Pockets where quite expensive here.
Did the slim not came out in Japan only ?

I think so, every slim I've owned came in japanese style boxes. I'm not 100% sure though since they re-release a bunch of different neo pocket bundle (walmart-style-packing). I've never seen any slim packed this way but after that thread about the weird mexican pocket bundle, who knows.

The slim is better than the original but if you have big hands, the original is the way to go. I can't really play the slim for too long. The battery life is better on the slim though and the screen is recessed which means that it doesn't get scratched as easily as the original. BTW, the pearl blue color version of the slimline is just horrible. Don't buy this.

As far as I know the slim only was released in Japan.

The logo on the front is printed in block letters on the fat, cursive script on the slim. Not sure what the actual model number differences are, though.

I have both, I prefer my slim though. The slim just seems more compact and I like the feel of the stick-pad, it's looser. I dunno if that goes for all slims or just my own.

I have a Crystal Blue Slim and a Pearl Blue Fat. I prefer the slim for the reasons Coryooon! mentioned.

I guess that means I have Magnaflux hands.

there is a video on youtube, but to really understand the significance of the slimline, you have to hold it in your hands, and then hold a regular NGPC, to know how much an improvement the design was.

I spent some time last night with both systems side by side. My take away was:

•The slim has a much more comfortable feel. Slightly smaller, softer, more curved angles. All-around more comfortable.

•The slim DOES have an improved TFT. It's not entirely clear in the photos, but I had both of them on side-by-side and the slim had MUCH clearer contrast. The white is much brighter and the blacks are crushed all the way. The standard model looks grey in comparison honestly.
