Everybody shit on casting Keaton as Batman and that turned out okay.

People said Heath Ledger couldn't play the Joker.

This can work, people. Wait and see how it turns out.

He might have to work on the voice a bit, though.

As for casting natural athletes or fighters as Batman...come on, man. Are any of those guy s good actors?

Spoiler:
No, they aren't.

Haven't watched a batman flick this millennium. Don't plan to change that anytime soon.

After my post, I began thinking this...

Then I remembered Zach Snyder will be in charge.
Yup, this movie will be shit.
Someone bookmark this topic.
If Affleck delivers a Keaton/Ledger performance, I'll gladly take a month long vacation in The War Room.

I was hoping for Louie C.K. just a fat pale Irishmen telling crime to choke on a bag of dicks.

Superman played by Danny Devito of course.

I would love to see that.
I'm one of the few fans of daredevil.
It's a decent flick.
Personally, I don't see Ben being a great batman though.

Man this is like one of those hyperbolic hypotheticals. "WELL FUCK IT THEY MIGHT AS WELL CAST BEN AFFLECK AS BATMAN OR SOME SHIT WHILE THEY'RE AT IT!"

Well whatever...i'll try to keep an open mind about. I mean I would would have never guessed Ledger would be good Joker yet here we are. He has gotten better in recent years.

Meh, didn't like Man Of Steel so I have even less of a reason to see this

This does now look like Clooney is no longer the most ridiculed Batman now

And this has nothing to do with the topic but FUCK YOU RYAN RENOLDS for help killing the Green Lantern franchise before the damn thing could get started

Ben Affleck should have been the director, too.

Everyone is complaining about the casting choice but it's not like they're naming a lot of alternatives. Were people expecting Daniel Day Lewis or Javier Bardem?

Can't be much worse than Dark Knight Rises.

PS: Insert trivia about Ben Affleck previously portraying George Reeves here.

Just came back here to see this thread. Some producers just want to watch the world burn.

Seeing how the internet exploded makes me wonder what it would have looked like when Keaton was announced. I know they said people wrote in letters to WB to complain about it but with the way the interwebs are it's magnified a million times over. Still, he's gotta be better then Kilmer.

Comic book fans are ravenous and historically tend to be quite annoying... To some degree the Internet bares a lot of blame in granting so many voices, an opportunity to speak out on information they were normally not used to attaining with such immediacy 20 years ago...

It's the Joker concept (Heath Ledger) - "Do I look like a guy with a plan? I'm like a dog chasing cars... I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it" -- That in a nutshell can describe the hysterical mobs of fans that go haywire on any piece of information for the titles they love...

The mainstream audiences(and International box office monitors) still want to see what Affleck can do with the role, I'm more surprised about the choice itself, because it came out of left field.

I'm probably among the few that thought with a totally different script, and far better directing his Daredevil film would have been much better. Dude looked exactly like Murdock in the cowl... His gestures, expressions, screen presence, and overall performance were spot-on.

I had my hopes toward Joe Manganiello who had been campaigning for the role since he lost his chance at Man of Steel... But this should be different and interesting at the very least. A clear departure from Bale's distinct take on the character is a necessity at this point.

Ben Affleck is an actor that is perfectly suited for Bruce Wayne or even a young Alfred? But not for Batman. Looking at his performance in Daredevil ten years ago (a superhero movie which flopped by the way) I don't think Affleck carries the tough persona required for Batman that Christian Bale had so much more of.

Don't get me wrong, I like Ben Affleck as an actor. But it seems like we're going to be getting more Bruce Wayne than Batman.

He's cut for the job !

Spoiler:
Mr. Bruce Wayne, a psychosexually traumatized, authority-phobic, psychologically resistant, dissociatively identified paranoically delusional schizophrenic. Also he thinks he's Batman.

I hope Matt Damon is Robin.
Imagine the genuine subtle homoerotic tension between the two during the movie.

No, they aren't.

Cam Gigandet has the acting talent and the skill, but not the look. Scott Adkins has more skill and the look, but not the acting talent. Gary Daniels has more skill than the previous two, but the least acting talent. And Ben Affeck has no skill, yet he has the talent (yes, he does) and the look on lockdown.

I'm not going to rant on and on about what can't be changed, but I'd still like to see Gigandet in the role regardless.

Kevin Smith must be laughing his ass off right now.

I know I am.

Kevin Smith tweeted a response: “Holy shit… BEN AFFLECK IS THE NEW BATMAN!!! Do you know what this means? It means that I’ve seen Batman naked!!!”

I'm undecided on this. I didn't have high hopes for the Man of Steel sequel anyways, so I hope they play this as campy as possible.

Hope Affleck turns out to be a good Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Maybe he’ll also assist Snyder with the directing duties (and Goyer with the writing).

He's a good actor overall, I'm just hoping directing has matured him enough for this role. We'll see...
