Started as Dwarf and soloing it has been a cakewalk so far. Also, Tasio is right: Best beat em up ever.

One thing I wanted to ask on here is about the loot. I know S rank stuff has the best stats, and the glowy golden aura around an item usually means it has the most modifiers....but last night I found a set of hammers for the dwarf that was not only S ranked but also had a silver-bluish aura and a SHITLOAD of modifiers.

Does anyone know anything about the auras and how high they go? Or is that platinum aura as good as it gets?

I am having a hard time not putting this one at the top of the heap. Every last line of code in this game is infused with Vanillaware's most loving efforts. As an already considerably talented studio, this is not a little thing to say.

The only problem I have with the game is the implementation of the mouse hand functionality.

Not that it shouldn't be in there. I like the idea that if I want to spend time in a room looking for hidden loot, the game affords me the opportunity to do that. Part of adventuring in the fantasy genre is looting the places you are exploring, and this detail is highly appreciated by the stuffquester in me.

I just consider the implementation a little awkward. It's much nicer on the Vita, where all of that stuff is managed by touch. But you can't do that on PS3 so this is what we're left with.

The equipment list could use an autosort function, as well. Another thing about RPGs and stuffquesting games is the irrational need to have everything properly sorted into neat, organized lists. It's not a problem with the game, but it would have been nice.

Oh, Japanese narrator option would have been apreciated, too, since you can give the characers Japanese voices at creation. The dub is actually pretty good in this game, but I still would like to hear the Japanese dungeon master.

But for the most part, this game is as good as anything I've played this year. It's nice when games come out that are totally worth the wait.

Taiso did you download the alternate voice narration DLC? You can't get the Japanese track but you can have the narrators voice replaced by each one of characters. I have the Wizard narrating my story currently. I really like the narration but hearing your objective each time you exit a building is tiring.

Especially when you get to a point where your objective is "You need X more talismans to defeat the dragon."

I gave my Dwarf the Japanese voice. I think he sounds badass.

I would like to know this too.

I feel like I'm only starting to dive in to the loot system and I at level 27 on my Dwarf with 3 of the Talisman's collected.

I did indeed. Wasn't missing out on that. It's a neat element.

Eh, my internet connection is dogshite atm...just going offline for now.

Finished the game with Dwarf and on hard difficulty the game just pushed my shit in. Even those tiny goblin fags chop down the dwarf like a bitch. Ridiculous!

Been playing a lot of co-op. Finished the main game and I'm working on hard. My sorceress is level 36 right now. I've already got 3 talismans on hard. The bosses jump quite a bit in level. For example the Dragon is lvl 30 on normal, lvl 60 on hard. I've not managed to hook-up with any friends online yet. I've almost completed 9 sets of armour. You get a ridiculous amount of loot chain running dungeons.

Anyone fought the boss that's an awesome reference to Monty Python's Holy Grail? Very funny and awesome boss.

I just stumbled upon him. I was getting scared as I walked in to what I knew was the boss area...that huge, huge, huge pile of corpses...and then the boss.

LOL!

That dude is tough!

I just hit level 30 but don't have all the talismans yet. Still doing quests.

I've noticed the quests get super complicated. They require you to very specific things.

Also, some of the quests require you to use specific runes, in certain places. I need to print out the runes and their effects. I can't remember them all.

I figure some of the quests will have to be done solo because if you have A.I or players with you, they kill off certain enemies needed for the quests too quick.

I noticed that somewhat early on in the quest where you have to use the large shield to reflect magic to open the secret door. By the time I had knocked down a shield and picked it up my party had killed all the mages. LOL.

Some quests also require going to the same stage multiple times.

Are there any multi-stage quests?

I was playing my Dwarf and selected no party members earlier today and three AI dwarves joined me, lol, it was hilarious. I usually don't like to run with another dwarf (gets waaay to confusing) but four dwarves was just epic.

I'm killing it.

I started playing with my Bro who picked Wizard. The Wizard obviously dominates in mutliplayer right now.

One thing I really enjoy is that the quests don't tell you 100% how to complete them, sometimes not even telling you where to go. I tire of quests in other RPGs that give you waypoints every single step of the way. I know it's necessary (to some extent) in larger games but in weakens storytelling and immersion since every quest becomes go to this waypoint do or kill something here, go to next waypoint, lather, rinse, repeat.

I've also really been enjoying finishing quests to unlock the art. At first I skipped the text that came up on the art like a dummy, until I realized the art furthered the story of the quest or told some backstory in the Dragon's Crown world. Really makes unlocking the art worthwhile.

Any tips on defeating the Red Dragon?

I've got him sooo close but then I always get to the bridge section where it doesn't seem you can really do damage to him.

Should I start the fight from his slumbering state?

Level 22 and finally got multi unlocked.

Warrior is 24 now.

I fucking love so much about this game.

It is a beautiful game.

This thing is a work of art, in my opinion.

Switched shit up and trying the wizard...I knew he was frail, but holy fuck. Not even a glass cannon, even his attacks barely get the job done.
As soon as I got to the gazer with him I had to quit the game outta frustration.

Even then I gotta say he's the coolest character in the game. Teleporting and flying is pretty neat...like he's part ninja or something.

Not having used him yet, I felt he would be the one character that would be best with multiplayer, I guarantee at high levels he's a fucking monster.

It could be the Gazer has some serious MR? The wizard destroys whole rooms of enemies in my playthrough.

The elf is serious fun, but it also lacks punch. Dagger and Arrows are limited supply.

Finally beat the first playthrough with my Dwarf.

I had a couple quests I was somewhat stumped on.

What happens in the Ghost Ship Cove when you go Route B and fend off the Kraken from the ship? I think I need to play through that part with humans. The computer is just too damn stupid to help prevent the ship from capsizing. Either that or I suck at dodging the tentacles.

The Ancient Dragon took me less tries (1) than the Red Dragon (about 5).

Fending off the kraken is a huge PITA, I pulled it off once and nothing happens....maybe when it wrecks your ship you lose a bit of health or something.
Staying on the boat in the lost woods pays off though....takes you to a cave of amethysts with an s-rank chest in there. As a dwarf, take a Sabertooth cat and just jump back and forth on the canoe to kill those fucking fish and lizard men. On the way there just dismount whenever you get mobbed then get back on your cat when its safe.

Glad to hear the wizard will be a beast as I level up, but I'm wondering which spell I have to pump up to become an absolute world destroyer.

That's dissapointing about the Kraken. I kept trying trying that part over and over precisely because there is an extra area in lost woods if your boat doesn't break.

Do you know if there is an extra area if you survive the carpet ride over the lava? That one I find difficult as well, mostly because it's extremely hard for me to tell which plane the lava attacks are coming from.
