Now that the platforms are confirmed I suppose it's time to start a thread. Watch Dogs is an open world action/adventure game. The setting is the near future where everyone is connected to each other electronically. You play the role of a hacker who takes advantage of the technology in the world around him. The theme of Watch Dogs is what will set it apart from the other games in its genre (GTA, Saints Row, etc).

Watch Dogs is expected to be released in Q4 (Oct, Nov, or Dec) of this year for PS4, PS3, Xbox 720, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC.

if the maps are as accurate as they say they will, i will have a distinct advantage in this one.

Yeah, read about this in Edge magazine some time ago, seems really interesting. Console-wise, I though this would have been a next gen game, It'll probably be quite meh on PS3/360, seeing how e.g Skyrim was on console. Still, cba to throw down a shit ton of money for a gaming rig, just as I have gotten rid of tabletops altogether.

Still, with this and Cyberpunk 2077, hmm...

Oh man, I can't believe I didn't notice this earlier. Check out the video I posted for the E3 2012 demo. If you listen at time index 1:25 one of the passing by NPCs asks a person they're talking to on the phone, "what about Wii U?" Did Ubisoft let everyone casually know that a Wii U version was on the way months before the system was released?

Probably not. I'm just surprised is all.

I remember when I saw the demo at E3, at the end of the video, it showed there were other (real) people running around in the game.
If this game uses multi-player similar to Demon's/Dark Souls, then I'm ready to call this GOTY.

I love all the seamless multiplayer integration I'm seeing with alot of these upcoming games.

It sounds cool; if anything it's something different.

The E3 demo made me a bit sceptic, alot of it looked very scripted...like that blackout thing. I wonder if you can only do that in certain spots or during certain events?

Wow this game looks amazing. I really can't wait for it. This and SR IV look too good to pass up.

Here's a video that better demonstrates the seamless multiplayer aspect of Watch Dogs. In the video the player is first under attack by another player who has been folded into his world; the multiplayer matching appears to be similar to Journey. The joining player appears as an npc, making a first-apperance recognition almost impossible (unless the invading player is being sloppy with their approach). The second portion of the video is the reverse, the player is invading someone else's world and attempts to hack that player.

By hacking into other players this must add to some hidden rank system that'll be the driving force behind going into multiplayer in the first place?

The developer has made it known that this mulitplayer feature can be toggled on and off, but stressed that turning it off would lessen the experience Watch Dogs is offering.

Sounds more like the PvP in Dark Souls to an extent.

Is it possible to join and help another player?

I'll have to watch the video when I get back.

Ugh. If the multi player is like Dark Souls, I'll be playing offline.

I'm also leery of the story mode. Feels like a lot of scripted stuff.

I imagine the game will still be great, these concerns aside.

I agree. I'd prefer to play the game without other players messing around with me. However, once I've finished the campaign I could see this as an excellent way to extent my interest in the game past that point. I'm not big on PvP, but dicking around in another player's world does have its appeal.

I really hope this game lives up to the hype. I will probably still wait a bit after launch to pick which platform i grab. I'm kinda curious if they'll use the WiiU screen. I can handle slightly lower graphics if it does something useful.
Otherwise, it's likely PC.

Not sure what to make of it as I only play multiplayer with folks I know and loath playing with folks I don't

Nothing is better than Jolly co-operation in Dark Souls.
