Don't bet on it. Too many idiots who will buy counterfeit crap off ebay. Yeah, we can run them off this site fast, but they still exist. We can't kill them.

that's the shame of it all.

I mean, I guess we could put up fake auctions on ebay for obviously counterfeit games, and send a fake game, like World Heroes dressed up as TSS or Blazing Star. If these fuckers are going to buy fakes, at least let them be the ones who get fucked..

purposely crash the market and then reap the benefits of low cost AES.

You know it would hilarious if when chrisr told Brandi that 20% of his collection was probably counterfeit, what he really meant was that 20% of the games were actually World Heroes 1, dressed up to be rarer games, and that only a gamer would have discovered this.

I noticed. Did it ever cross your mind that a situation like this could be a bit overwhelming?

Also, did you know that David sent out documents that were supposed to prove his identity to certain people? He sure did a lot to fool others, which is why I don't think he was completely honest with Mike. Telling the truth just doesn't seem to be his thing. And, again, selling crap at a premium is always easier, if the "clerk" (<- noticed the quotation marks?) is convinced that he is selling a quality product. It's always like that. Even at McDonald's.
Not saying that Mike is a saint. I was pretty much the only one who gave him shit about the whole Thomas Smallwood thing. All I'm saying is that I doubt that the source was honest with him.

People should worry more about the amount of money that David bagged. Getting that money back would be much more important to me, if I was a buyer. I, of course, am not. Neither are you. Looks as if Mike doesn't owe us anything. Not even an apology.

Good point.

Well that makes sense. However I still think he was in on it.

Aside from that it makes a lot of sense and I can understand what you are getting at there. However comming and pushing off the blame on the rest of us here and then trying to say that any of us would have done the same thing as well as some of the other crap he has pushed out over the last few visits I have to disagree with that apology bit.

I regret unloading on Tonk a couple of pages back, but I'm not sorry for it. His "apology" sucked.....and if taking the money ruined his rep, (but he's not giving back ANY of the money) his rep can stay ruined for all I care. Around here scammers have been run off for much less.

Having a family to take care of, needing money, wanting glory, all of that is understandable....but grabbing the cash, running away, then coming back without settling up won't fix your rep any time soon.

You could easily make a conversion but the game won't function like it's supposed to without the ram. There's always a new picture from NGF. What other "releases" did they make that no one has really seen?

I still don't think he owes anyone a refund.

So Xander , you know Tintin , Murakami(first owner of the ridiculous statue ) and JM Pigeon very well ...what can you say about it .
If it is like your comments on my report (pics are really strange, blabla....), no need to answer .
By the way ,this statue of Tintin is the most wanted in the world .
Last one has been sold 3 years ago (artcurial) and it has been a world record .
You do not really know who Murakami is ?

Has anyone mentioned just how much this game sucks ass???

It shouldn't be more than $500. I'm not sure why a person would want it at that price point.

I wouldn't give $50 Shipped for that bullshit lie!

This is THE problem with this hobby...

A bunch of 30-40 year old BOYS with no concept that what we are playing with are TOYS and completely trivial shit.

It's a fucking statue of a comic book character. WHO GIVES A FUCK WHO OWNED IT BEFORE YOU? IT'S A FUCKING TOY.

How the fuck did you get 30k to piss away on anything? Did you forget to buy magic beans that week?

Look I don't care who bought what and who owned it before, but with that statue you are entering art territory (not because I say so, but well because the market has decided). And while it might seem completely crazy, Tintin is actually a huge deal in French speaking countries, with a respectable and very old (even the collectors themselves) collector scene.

Compared to those guys and their acceptance, collecting Neo Geo isn't even worth speaking of. And if one must throw around $30k it is probably more wisely spent on that statue than a game.

As for Murakami—who cares. He's an overrated author who really just copies ideas from more renowned Japanese authors.

I'm aware of Tintin. Additionally, I received quite a bit of formal art education. I'm an appreciator and supporter of fine art. Tintin is NOT fine art.

In fact, I'd liken the neo geo and the associated collector scene to the Neo-impressionist movement of the 80's and this site to be the Mary Boone of Neo Geo.

Mary did a tremendous job of pushing her artists (Julian Schnabel, JM Basquiat, etc) and making them a lot of money. too much at times and it was predicated on hype.

Eventually, the market crashed. Works that went for millions during the 80's barely fetched 6 figures. The prices are just now getting back up to 80's levels.

Very similar.. except our crash hasn't happened.. yet.

Either way, they're trivial objects with a value assigned somewhat arbitrarily and predicated on greed.

Who gives a fuck who owned it previously?

I don't think it is so much that as it is the "relevance". I mean, the statue in it's own right and in it's own world may very well be significant. (just as a euro Kizuna Encounter has it's significance here) But the problem is that you crossed over from one "collectible" to another.

In the world of "statue collectors" (lets call it the art world) having a euro kizuna in your collection means absolutely nothing. It is completely worthless and meaningless to 99.9% of the art collecting community.

And in the world of "neo geo collectors" (let's call it the video game collecting community) having a super rare and collectible statue means absolutely nothing. It is completely worthless and meaningless to 99.9% of the video game collecting community.

So by all means, enjoy your statue and appreciate it's value, but it has no relevance here. Nobody here cares about it.

Having something rare doesn't mean it's valuable. The person buying it assigns value, typically based upon previous opinions or values assigned by others.

Either way, they're a sucker. Just because someone paid good money for another person's solid waste doesn't mean I should... even if they're the only person on earth who owns it.

Chamane's greed, masking his judgment, had him spend an exorbitant amount of money on an item that was trivial when judged against any metric. Regardless, he spent higher than market value on this item. He justified this by determining who owned it previous to him and made a value judgment based upon this and the desire to own something few people ever could. Rarity and Greed got the best of him, skewing his judgment.

I'm glad Chamane learned his lesson from the AF3 debacle and I know he'll apply it in the future when considering other purchases.

I don't care. Tintin has zero significance to me. I read the comics as a kid. I didn't care much about it. To me, the statue looks silly and ridiculous. I can understand wanting to own neo geo games. I can understand wanting to own a beautiful piece of art. But your statue is not something I consider of value. One man's treasure is another man's trash.

Kinda disappointed to see those two logos on the same PCB...

So many useful products someone could commission and sell for the Neo.

New cart slots to rebuild motherboards.

Joystick molds and components to rebuild old style sticks.

Control overlays for cabs

Etc..

But great to see JGP. Awesome work guys

And the general consensus in chat is that explains who modded the JockeyGP code and what was paid/in exchange for said work.

I hope it's not true.

What coding needed to be changed?
