I should have the new eprom burner in a few days, but I'm not sure what to do.
should I just remove the eproms from my game and dump them? so I can compare with the usa set?

if so, I downloaded the USA and KOR Roms, but the Korean one only has 1 file "242-m1k.m1" WTF?

if anyone has any ideas I'd be very gratefull.

Remove M1 and reprogram it with the M1 from the USA set. The Korean set only has one file because the way mame works, it has one parent rom set (in this case, KOF98 JP/USA) with the majority of the files while variants like this Korean version only have what's different.

so that's how it is, I was thinking I would need to change the EP1 and EP2 also.
Now I need to find an Eprom to replace that M1, or I'll have to delete that M1 to do it.

Just erase the onboard M1. If you want restore the Korean version, you can erase it again and reprogram it back.

Yeah dude just break down and get a quality one, preferably one that natively support 42 pin chips without a adapter(don't cheap out again).

Well since the fukin mofos at the Chilean Customs still have my new GQ-4X Burner on hold. (it's been 1 month)
I gave the Willem another shot, and finally I was able to dump the M1 chip, after that I saved the file and checked it
with RomCenter, it checked ok.

Next step, I downloaded the USA Kof 98 rom and burned it to the chip.

after testing it the voices are back!!!!!!
but the sound does skip some times, something is fucked up....
maybe I burned the chip wrong, because a dump of the same chip doesn't check out in RomCenter.

so tomorrow I'll give it another shot.
I'll take a video of the game working with the skipping sound too.

in the end, I grabed an old Amic EEprom from an old mobo and burned the sound data there.
worked like a charm

(Using the Willem, I still can't get the new Burner)
