Clean your slots, I had a metal slug cart that would do that, after cleaning the slots it would work

Try a cotton fabric with a little bit of alcohol (don't soak it) around a credit card, you need something tight and this will do the trick.

Wait a few minutes for it to dry 100% before you turn it on again.

Edit- i posted after the previous answer, but it is a different method.

must be fail contacts?

Check the solder joints on the cartridge.

I recently grab a Over Top that is very picky about connections:

I have to insert the game and pull it a little bit up before i turn the game on, otherwise it will boot without sound. If i turn the system with the game "perfectly" fitted, i can then jiggle it anyway i want but it won't work.

A constant crosshatch means it can't read the program rom(s). Post a pic of the prog board in the P1 area.

you probably just need to warm up the chips. I suggest holding the boards over a stovetop for about 3 minutes.

the profile of the board is more of a v shaped along the contacts line, than a square shaped

also, contacts are less pointed

just burn the P1 onto an eprom and solder it back in in place of the maskrom - that's bound to be the problem...

I can't tell from the pics but do you see like a kinda brownish square in the middle of the P1 rom? If you do then it means the chip is bad.

can you desolder a mask rom with just a little soldering iron? it doesn't look easy, there are so many connections @.@

just hold a hairdryer on high heat over it for 30 minutes and the mask rom can be pulled off easily.
