I reported all his unauthorised illegal conversions to ebay. Even if converting an MVS to an AES is not against copyright or trademark law, to copy the original artwork and sell it together with the conversion IS AGAINST copyright law! Please report every single listing in ebay of this jerk before he has floated the market with is high quality conversions!

Wouldn't people have to have knowingly bought the conversions for this to happen though? If so, what sort of people are buying these?

Presumably the sort of people who own an AES and would like Blazing Star (for example) and would rather not shell out for an MVS machine nor pay in the region of £1000 to play the game legitimately?

Quite annoying, because from this perspective, I doubt this problem will ever go away...

I reported a bunch of his auctions. He shouldn't be making and selling conversions of official releases, using the official release IP.

I was going to report the auctions but I got this message:

Btw, those aren't the "conversions" that we're used to but real bootlegs as he doesn't even use original MVS carts to make these and just burn some eproms (which is a good thing for the MVS market... o_O). People are so ignorant though, they don't give a shit about the price or what's inside the carts as long as the inserts looks nice on the shelves... The seller isn't the only one to blame here, I'd also blame the retarded buyer who spent $420 on a Metal Slug X bootleg.

At least it shouldn't fool anyone, the colours are so far out it's ridiculous. Why someone would pay so much for a fake ROTD is beyond me though, is it really that hard to save what an original would cost over the cost of this boot?

Not everyone knows better, and there's probably a lot of people looking to buy this game. All it takes is to remove "conversion" and someone would click buy it now. And never be the wiser.

That is just sad. Why would anyone want to "convert" Rage of the Dragons or MOTW?

Seems pretty crazy to spend serious cash on home carts purchased from ebay in the first place. I do not support what this guy is doing obviously.

Sellers from Spain seem to be flooding the market. Just yesterday I reported someone with multiple conversions up for sale. Must be the economy. With unemployment at a record high, young people haven't got much else to do and few other sources of income.

May I correct you? I would say "one seller with a lot of accounts". I know the background of all this, that's why I write here. One guy don't represent a whole country, as you could know with NGF (and they're two!) ;)

Sorry, didn't mean to offend Spain or so. :)
There are just so many conversions coming from Spain that I couldn't imagine only one guy being responsible.

The AES scene is really starting to make me ill.

There really isn't one anymore. It's basically 2 groups, #1 a bunch of old guys who bought their stuff years ago, paid low prices, know their stuff is legit and won't ever sell it, and #2 people who look at auctions like this, ask some questions on this site about how to tell a fake vs a legit cart, get frustrated and/or burned, then give up and buy an Mvs made of wood.

Hahah, indeed!

Btw, this whole "MVS made of wood" crap is hilarious. Who in his right mind would want something like that? :eye:

But yes, be careful before making generalizations about Spain based on the actions of a fucktard (or two, God knows we have quite a few).

Agreed. Anyone who getting into AES now is guaranteed to be burned. I regret letting go of my original collection but that's life. I still have my modded AES system in case one of those old guys needs a replacement. I'm happy with my CMVS collection (not made of wood)

...NGF has their own story... they made and make simply stupid things like stamping like crazy to "prevent" people to buy fakes ...oh thank you NGF for stamping the inserts and manuals so that we could be sure its a legit game ...and thank you for selling your stamped pieces for fantasy prices ...lol, I mean who spend these funds for a stamped game? lol http://www.ebay.com/itm/neo-geo-aes-REAL-BOUT-SPECIAL-ENGLISH-EURO-9-PHOTOS-/221232546006?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item33827cc0d6

...but the spanish guy is much worse! ...he is producing illegal copies/ conversions of games which are available as original AES version ...this really sucks! ...he is not just making copies of super rare and expensive games or MVS only releases ...no ... he is making games from common games ...and so he totally destroys the market for AES games.

Like Rick Strowd from Real Bout 2 would say to this spanish guy: "GO TO HEAVEN!"

Seriously?

Seriously. Geddon_jt’s comment is spot on. The problem is most new folks still don’t get it and get mad when told the way it is, or worse, after getting burned.

If you truly enjoy Neo-Geo arcade experiences, stop wasting time with AES (other than a few common titles before 1996), get MVS carts and set yourself up with a cab, CMVS, or whatever arcade unit. Genuine and rare AES carts are pretty much out of the market after early 2000s.
