Playing this right now and it's a really great version of the game.

I was playing this and had some thoughts.

If they ever decided to do a RE movie that is true to the games, I'd have no problems with them casting:

Chris Redfield-Jeremy Renner
Jill Valentine-Jennifer Lawrence

No love for Bradley Cooper? He and Jennifer Lawrence have been working together alot recently, why not continue the trend.

P.S. - or you can wait for American Hustle. An upcoming movie staring all three.

Whenever I see the Chris Redfield design from 5 on, including MvC 3, he just looks like Renner to me.

Although looking at cooper here, he could probably pull off Redfield in terms of appearance.

Unfortunately, that element of the 3DS gameplay is too integrated to be easily removed. It's the only thing I don't like about it.

Actually, I don't mind it being in there. But you have to do it too often for too little gain. Doing it less frequently and for more cool applications than a health item would have been nice. They should have made it a random drop. Or even better, turn it into a form of game currency you can use to buy ammo, health items, extra skins, new weapons, etc. That might have created miore compulsion for it, rather than being such a turn off.

The classic controls don't seem as smooth as RE4 or 5, but the shooter controls seem odd too. Can't really explain why.

How long is the game? Seems like its going to be fairly short.

I've noticed a few references to past games too, like Jill picking up the severed hand holding the gun and it stopping right before it shows the gruesome part. And Jill draining the bath tub, only to find nothing.

Yeah I thought this was going to be a downloadable title for like $20.

Are they touting this as a full release?

Bump the thread when it's on sale and downloadable through XBLA.

I remember the game clocking in at about 10 hours.

And why shouldn't it be a full cost? it's a full Resident Evil game. Not just an arcade style shooter.

It's the first time the game has been released on Xbox 360 and PS3.

I see no reason why they should charge barbain bucks for a game that they have never released on those consoles before.

This is not just an arcade shooter like Mercenaries. It's a FULL RE game.

It shouldn't be a full priced game because that doesn't meet my irrational expectations.

I'll wait for a price drop.

Revelations is worth the $50 asking price. It's the best RE since RE4. I'm honestly shocked by the low metacritic score. I played the demo on Wii U and I was happy with the tweaks.

That said, it is more of the same. If you've had your fill of the third-person shooter that this series has become then you're not missing much. Wait for the price drop. Come back at the $20-$30 mark and you'll be thoroughly entertained.

Oh come on. :(

Of course my opinion is based more on the 3DS version I played from start to finish, not the demo. And the platform I played the demo on has fuckall to do with that opinion aswell.

10 hours is not to be sniffed at really. I've been playing through Resident Evil's 2 & 3 on my Gamecube recently and even if you take your time and don't use any unlocked weapon upgrades (i.e. infite rocket launcher, gattling gun etc), you're looking at sub five hour gameplay.

Obviously 4 & Code: Veronica offer epic gameplay, but they're both sub 10 hours... never tried them on a speed run.

How long was 5? Need to get back on that horse...

I honestly don't remember how long 5 was, Tarma. I remember it being a decent length but maybe not as long as 4. 4 seemed to go on and on and on...and that was a magnificent thing because it was so good.

Just make sure you play 5 before Revelations. If you do it in reverse, 5 will seem like a regression in terms of gameplay because of the inability to strafe and reload on the move.

5 also has a few boring stretches in it. Mostly the part when you're running around the underground city pulling levers and the very beginning, right before the massive public assembly fight. But overall, I think 5 stands up as a pretty good game. Just don't expect the tension of 4. It is more of a military action game with some horror and RE lore elements to tie it together. It's definitely the game that made Chris my favorite character in the entire series. Guess I'm always going to be a fan of the do gooders in stories.
