What happened to the Necromongers and until Underverse come and shit?

I hope the 2nd film was a dream.

Better not suck like the second one did.

Pitch Black was fantastic, though.

I liked the first two, more the first. Which reminds me that I need to get the blu-rays since I had them on HD-DVD.

I didn't like how over the top epic it was. I liked the sort of dirty, used look of the first movie.

Then in the second movie, he's almost like Space Conan. There was no real tension. I knew that he was so superhuman and invulnerable that he was going to win no matter what.

It even ended with him sitting on a throne like the king of Aquilonia.

I thought all the stuff with necromungers and far away space empires and pseudo-fanatical zeal for causes just felt like Warhammer 40K or something. Which is fine...for Warhammer 40K.

I watched it a second time to see if it was just me and my reaction and the second time, I just felt that it all came off as overly cheesy space opera.

Richard Riddick, space fugitive is fine with me. Richard Riddick, conqueror of civilizations just isn't the right tone for the character IMO.

You have a lot more potential for stories than Riddick. Far less boundaries, so orange jumpsuit is fine by me.

According to wikipedia Karl Urban is reprising his role from the second film.

Looks more like a Pitch Black remake from the trailer though.

Going to see this when it comes out for sure but i'm still confused - is this basically a reboot of Pitch Black? Maybe what they're showing is only the beginning of the film?

It isn't a reboot. Don't forget that in PB he was helping civilians, in this one it looks like he's left for dead. If Karl Urban is reprising his role I am assuming Riddick loses his throne somehow and ends up with bounty hunters and that's where it comes off looking like PB in the trailer.

It looks like PB because he is on a desert looking world with creatures that come out at night.

I'm hopeful it isn't a reboot.

I'm glad we at least get one more movie under the Riddick franchise for better or worse. Loved the first two and the game. Now if we could just get a sequel for that game...

I like both movies, so I am interested in this one. Been a while since I saw a good Vin Diesel movie.
