I'm in need of new glasses, prescription ones that it, I've been looking at these:

Those are awesome. I wish that I could pull those off, but I'd probably look like a pervert or pedo.

How much would those cost, anyways?

Side note, anybody know where I can pick up a cheap set of Wayfarers online?

So here are my new prescription glasses; picked up a fun set of shades by Thom Brown:

Went with Chrome Hearts for the regular frames:

These are surprisingly lighter and more comfortable than my last pair. Like a lot of glasses these days (including the shades) the metal part of the frame is titanium (and Japan seems to have the lock-down on glasses frames made out of titatium) but the temples are actually wood.

One more pointless bump and his userID should be changed to "Kentucky Fatass" for a month...or permanently if he does it again.

This picture from the 40s exudes style even now:

It looks exactly like the sort of photo Bill Cunningham would take for his famous "On the Street" in the the Sunday Styles Section of the NY Times.

There was an excellent documentary about him a few years ago:

I'm guessing that you don't own anything that's "plain".

I just got a pair of Allen Edmond' Strands in the mail. Used, in my size (11e) on ebay for $133 shipped. That's a $345 dollar shoe new. They're beautiful. There is a surface scratch on the leather the right shoe near the toe (off to the left side) that isn't really visible until you get real close. That was the only defect aside from them being lightly used.

I've been wanting some wingtips fiercely, though I was going to get some more casual ones (I wanted the AE Neumoks which are $260msrp) but when I saw these shoes on ebay, in my size, with only one bidder and a low start price I decided to jump on them.

There are outrageous deals on ebay for lightly used. higher end goods that are currently still in production. Once you get to the OOP stuff it gets expensive, but man - if they still make it chances are someone is getting rid of it.

I only mention these prices because I've sort of gradually coming around on clothing.

I've purged a lot of clothes to go a less is more approach. But with having FAR less clothes I really want higher quality stuff, because it's honestly the more frugal approach - the good stuff will last a very, very long time. Particularly when you start getting in to stuff that is recraftable.

^Good stuff Duffalo, Allen-Edmonds shoes are all right. If they are good enough for Patrick Bateman, they are good enough for me :D
Check out this site, I've bought ties from them, top notch service and 100% authentic:

When I am absurdly rich (read: never) I will travel to London to have all my suits made.

I love tweed.

What I really really want is a classic 80's Hermes tie, one with snails and cabbages.

I sometimes see used and reconditioned ultra-high priced luxury items by labels such as Hermes, Chanel and Louis Vuitton go for sale on flash sale sites but they still go for a ton of money. With that said, I think the last used Hermes tie from that era went for low $100s.

Got some boat shoes earlier in the week.

Allen Edmonds' "Center Fielder" - looks like a standard boat shoe with a rubber sole. Only thing unique is that there is a red baseball style stitch on the back of the shoe. Price was only slightly more than Sperry's boat shoes I'd been looking at.

I'm still looking for the perfect pair of off-the-rack pants.

Have some Levi 501s I got a couple weeks ago but I'm about to have a little tailoring on them done. Pays to have a sister who has taken sewing courses at community college.

Yeah, I've been looking at deck shoes as well. (God, we are all becoming old men :D ) Also I found a classic Burberry mac/rain coat at a flea market for 15€, with the detachable liner, which is often missing from ones you see on eBay, etc...

I've owned a few bracelets over the years, but over the last 6 months I've decided to grow that by quite a bit. I either wear a giant bracelet or stack several at a time. It looks cool if you do it right.

I've also added some rings. I used to avoid human skulls, but I saw a few stylized ones I liked: I went for a large Day of the Dead-style "baroque" skull using jet as the material (the term "jet black" comes from the semi-precious stone) that I picked up when I visited King Baby Studios in Santa Monica, I got to see their workshop and they fixed some of my other bracelets free of charge (and polished my older silver bracelet to crazy levels with their industrial grade polisher). I also picked up a cool futuristic skull ring for a good deal off of Rue La La that was made by Swarovski of all companies (I think that's why it wasn't successful in their stores and ended up on Rue). I also picked up some more subdued porcelain square rings by Vitaly to go with the double-ring I have by them (again, for cheap off Rue). The bracelets are a mix of King Baby and M. Cohen--I discovered the latter on clearance on HauteLook and when it's on sale I think it's a good deal, but I think their retail prices are way too high for the amount of silver they use. The brass railroad tie in the foreground was something I saw online that I liked by a Florida company called Giles & Brother--they offer free engraving on the opposite side, but the company initials happen to both mine and my wife's, so I just went with it as it was. I got that leather cuff custom made for under $50 by a guy in Oregon--I like it a lot because I have a nagging wrist injury that occasionally flairs up (from a car accident I got into almost 15 years ago) and it offers support.

Just a heads up for those here in America: Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale begins 7/19. They have some really killer deals on nice shoes. AE Daltons for like $260 whereas they're usually $400. Red Wing and other brands on sale as well.
