Looks good, I'd be interested in getting some printed off for sure - could it not be printed to self adhesive paper?

hmm.. maybe; but to mount it behind the glass the print would have to be on the sticky side of the paper - which I'm pretty sure no regular large-format inkjet is going to be able to do. I think you'd need some kind of vinyl sign printer or something (which is the first option to try for the CPO I think..).

But using spray mount to stick the paper to the inside of the glass could be an option. I would just worry about air bubbles and being able to see the glue itself, which might not be ideal.

So I reckon spray-mounting it onto ~200gsm card backing (just thick enough to stay completely flat) and then cutting it out would prob be the best option. On my machine at least there is some overlap of the metal edging which would hide the edges and let you use a few blobs of putty or glue to hold it in place. Hard to know till someone's tried it, but I think that's what I would try first...

Seems like there are a few people interested. I'll go talk to the printers and see if I can get a 'nice price..'

Great job! How many hours did you put into it?
I'm interrested into getting one, but i can wait for the CPO so i don't have to pay for shipping twice. Depends though on when you think the CPO will be ready :)

Hey,
Sorry for the silence - been really busy. I hate it when work and home life gets in the way of tinkering with arcade machines..

A little bit of progress on the CPO I guess - found a local place with a really nice vinyl printer who will do a digital print onto adhesive vinyl for £40, or £60 with a tougher matt lamination. The quality looks great and they will help get the colours right, etc.
But the artwork is going to be difficult. I just don't think I'm going to have time before xmas, but should be a nice project for the holiday! If you guys can wait, I'll keep you updated with progress. Perhaps I'll be able to do the first test print in early Jan. I think I'll likely get a few of them done at the same time - I feel sure there will be takers for them if they are good.

Regarding the bezel - size is 60.5cm x 41.5cm, at 300dpi. This is slightly larger than it needs to be - I've allowed a few mm all around for cropping (and I wasn't quite sure how it would be mounted inside the frame). The big issue I think for you will be getting the colour right with your local printers. I'd get them to print a few sample variants maybe, if they can. My printers would do 5cm-wide strips for free, so I just kept trying different colour settings..

I'm happy to get one printed here and shipped to you, but I think outside the UK the postage might make that less ideal..

Sorry, rapidshare deletes after 60 days of no activity or something. Here it is again:

Please be careful to check the colours before printing - getting a match on the red was/is really hard and varies from printer to printer. There's no easy way (as far as I know) - I just managed to get my printers to do small small test strips with different colour balances.

P.s. gonna work on the CPO some more over xmas...

Hi all,

I did actually - made a bit of progress. But I'm being hampered by two things: (1) it's bloody hard and (2) I'm being a perfectionist ;)

I've separated all the bits out and got them into photoshop. I've redone the SNK and MVS logos which I wasn't happy with in the vector. I've got the background and 'chrome' in halftone - but it's going to take many attempts of printing bits out to get that right - but that's just trial and error.

One thing I could do with though - could someone (Merugear!?) please take a close-up, high-res, well lit photo of the neo geo logo in the middle of the top, and the max 330 mega piece in the bottom left? (The vector is missing the Neo Geo logo.)

(again, credit to the original maker of the vector, whoever he/she is - they did a great job of laying it out)

A "public beta" could be ready with just a bit more work, but getting the colour and pattern right for an actual print - that's gonna take time. Will post an update soon (promise) ;)

Great to see you still working on this!

I've just taken some pictures for you, they might not be good enough but can't hurt to upload them.

Could someone (Merugear!?) please take a close-up, high-res, well lit photo of the neo geo logo in the middle of the top.

Hey guys, that's brilliant - thanks very much. I've done a bit more on it this weekend. Still a long way to go, but I'm gonna get there..

One final request: could someone please take a couple more pictures: The two button clusters from directly above, and the "1st player - game select - 2nd player" text from straight ahead? (please no flash, just natural light if possible)

Thanks again - I really appreciate your help. Next time I post I will upload something ;)

Hi,

I have just acquired one of these Electrocoin cabs 6 slot. The CP is badly cracked and faded so I would be willing to pay for a new CP vinyl. Problem is I want it within a month from now.

Doesn't have to be perfect (colours dots and what not) I just want this cab to look tidy.

So If you want to sell me a print please let me know?

Keep up the good work!

I'm still working on the artwork - it's not ready for printing yet. The original which I'm working from is ok, but it's missing quite a bit of detail. But it's available on the internets (link in earlier post I think)

I looked into prices - to do a good job of it would be something like 30-50 quid depending on the thickness of the plastic and laination, etc. So maybe not worth doing unless you're really happy with the artwork (that's what I was thinking anyway).

One thing - if yours is basically destroyed, you could just remove it all and paint the CP, which is what was done to mine:

I'm hoping to get the artwork finished and printed some time this year!

I've got one of these. Purchased it from Jeff Ferrier when his company was called vektorlogic, now it a digital systems. He had lots of them for sale back then.

I personally think they are quite ugly along with most UK machines. When I see most collections of machines on jamma+ I think they look cheap and nasty but I am in the minority.

Been gone for a while

Hi there all, especially chrisg!

Sorry for the absence and I wish I'd kept track of this topic a bit more. Lots of real life stuff happening around here (some good, some bad), so forgot all about this little thread here.

Seems like chris is right on the mark with his research and artwork, if there's anything you guys need me to do let me know.

If anyone knows how to tighten those control sticks again (mine are loose), that'd help a bit.

Oh, and the bottom wooden cover is getting warped by the moist/heat here. Any tips for that?

Apart from that, keep up the good work and I'll keep my eyes on this thread for a bit.

If the CPO is finalized, I'll have a word with our printing supplier at my job to maybe make a sweet bulk deal for all who's interested. Since I live in the Netherlands, shipping shouldn't be a problem since all the bulk of the import/export is going through our country anyways ;).

Cheers!

Those aren't the sticks you're looking for...

Hi there!

Just got my Seimitsu LS-40's in and I must say that they're not the same as the ones I've got on my cab right now. For as far as I know, the ones that are currently installed are the originals.
Going to check if the bottom fits the tops.

Cheers.
