I've had a spell this past year where I've been reading Archie Digests.
I can almost hear the cry of "heathen" now. But, they're decent entertainment.
It's no hero set. Well, except for the rare Archie superhero edition.
There was a neat one-panel joke to imply that Veronica's dad, Mr. Lodge, either was or at least possessed the helm of Doctor Fate.
It is eerily unnerving to know that Archie and his friends have been in high school, at least, since the 60s if not earlier--none of them aging, but the comic always being bent to fit in modern times.
It's fun to read the comics while imagining that there's something far more sinister going on in the background. You know, when a giant, floating, intergalactic, disembodied cow head isn't dropping off the Ninja Turtles during a Jose and the Pussycats concert.
