Two location recommendations for a SoCal get together

Blipsy Barcade - Korea Town - dive bar meets early 90s arcade - descent selection of machines and cheap drinks

Sassony Arcade - Downtown LA - This arcade is huge, full of Neo Geo machines and right next to the Los Angeles Brewing company

I'll be moving to LA in a couple of weeks. Definitely down to meet up and play some games!

SoCal Gathering

Hi guys! Alright, we're doing this! I've posted this meet over at shmupsforum. Limited space, so first come first serve. The meet is free but you must bring a main course to feed 8 people for the potluck. PM me with what main course dish you are bringing. I have a charcoal grill, so if you feel like bringing chicken/steaks/marinated pork chops/ for 8 people I can grill that up too! I also have an oven and a rice cooker.

Items needed:
Webcam/DVD recorder/streaming setup (I have Verizon FiOS it is FAST)
Surge protectors and a couple of extension cords.
If you have a folding/portable chair, please bring one so you can chill out in the backyard, chat with fellow shmupsforum members, and enjoy a cold refreshing beverage and a plate of delicious hot food.

When: Saturday, May 18th 11am-8pm

Where: My house in Long Beach, CA (please PM me to RSVP and I will send you my address/details as we get closer to the date. Thanks!) One of the bedrooms is a dedicated game room. I have the living room for extra candy cabs and supergun setups if you guys want to bring one down. Got a huge backyard with a patio and lawn for hanging out and talking about shmups. If the 100 Yen documentary is out there will be a DVD screening.

How much: Free! But I'd really like to have a snack/drink potluck like last time, so if you guys could bring a main dish to feed 8 people that would be great. I have a grill, oven, and a rice cooker.

Yeah its kind of sad how one shitbag can ruin these for everyone. Ive been hosting my own very small meets for the past 3 or 4 years and never had a problem until now. This last one I invited a good handful of new people Ive never met and a few people I dont know too well (just about everyone who showed up is a neo forum member) and I also allowed folks to bring guests. Sure enough some d-bag pocketed a few expensive items. The worst part is not knowing who the thief was, it makes everyone who attended look bad, and like I said if I do host again, it will only be a handful of people I know I can trust around my shit.

This was a few months back but I figured it was time to post about it so other locals can be wary if they host.

That's some totally fucked up shit. Sorry to hear that VBA. Ruined an otherwise awesome meet up. I can see why you've always kept it small in the past. What got stolen? If any of it pops up here, it'd be good to know.

A few console gaming items that I want to be quiet about and see if they pop up, Ive got some pics that should prove they are mine if I see them pop up for sale or in someones collection.

Maybe the item I should tell you about is this:

Its a fairly expensive cycling light, I used it as a flashlight when I was messing with my cabs. I know I had it out and used it that night, and several people were admiring it. That was the last time I saw it. So has anyone who attended my meet on March 15 seen this little gem in another locals stuff? I would love to know about it.

Since that meet I have moved and slowly combed through my house for the suspect missing items, Im 100% sure things were stolen.

That is truly fucked up. I can't imagine that enough things could go missing that it would be remotely a mistake on someone's part.

Stranger danger!

:mad::blow_top::very_ang:

Stealing is messed up--esp. from another forum member.

I'll keep my eyes out for your cycling light, BA.

And hope you find it in the mean time.

---

Also: I can say that I rolled to the meet with Jep & game, and saw them leave the meet empty handed.

Hope this info helps.

Id love to go to one of these once again like the old days. Can bring some stuff as well, like a 161 in 1. Or SVC Chaos for AES for example.
