I figure with the turn over rate and cost of collecting arcade gear it'd be interesting to see what people have let go of to upgrade, got bored of etc.

As for myself (not including MVS):

Radiant Silvergun
Soukyugurentai
Cotton 2
Cotton Boomerang
Dimahoo
Strikers 1999
Dragon Blaze
Ketsui x2
Muchi Muchi Pork x2
Dogyuun
Gun Force 2
Night Slashers
Contra
Strider
Strider 2
Battle Bakraid
Battle Garegga
Brave Blade
D&D SOM
D&D TOW
Martial Masters
Demon Front
X Men
Dolphin Blue
Oriental Legends 2
BAM 4
Elevator Action Returns
Arkanoid 2
UN Squadron
Carrier Airwing
POW
G Darius
Undercover Cops
Sailor Moon
Donpachi
DOJ
Pink Sweets
Ibara
Dangun Feveron
Super C
Tengai
Daraku Tenshi
Raiden Fighters 2
Raiden Fighters Jet
Xexex
Final Fight

Christ, what a waste of money. As much as I love arcade gear, it's still mind boggling.

Edit: 2 threads in 1- Shit that in hind sight you wish you wouldn't have gotten rid of for whatever dumb shit you were hot to get in your filthy hands.

Just 1: ESP RaDe
(beat it in a week with a score I was happy with and needed a few quick bucks to fund my first cab)

I do miss it, mainly because of the incredible Joker Jun art. Thankfully it's not terribly difficult to replace.

I haven't really sold many, though a week or so ago I was in panic mode and about ready to dump everything. Luckily things are all better for Uncle Zangief now.

As it stands I've sold off Die Hard, Turtles 89 x2, P.O.W., and Street Fighter Alpha 3.

I'm still new to the hobby so I'm sure it'll catch up with me soon and I'll ending up.selling something nice in order to fund some A-list pcbs.

I've gotten rid of a few boards, mostly Capcom CPS2. The one pcb I was more than happy to get rid of was Ibara. To me, that game wasn't fun at all. My collection is still around, but I rarely buy as I'm still playing all of them. In the future, I may pick up Cyvern or trade up my Undercover Cops for a Japanese board.

what is it about cave games?

Ibara x2
Ibara Kuro (at one point I had 2 of these)
galuda
galuda 2 x2
deathsmiles x2
esprade
progear
donpachi (I probably miss this the most, kid)

others:
sexy reaction with panel
ssvs x2
twink x2
ms6

.... all of the x2's I currently have again but have learned my lesson. If I buy it more than once I might as well keep it because it's a good bet I'll want to play it again.

Yeah, I see alot of Cave boards listed here already. I'm guessing their cost and ease of getting make them easy movers. There's only one thing in my arcade journey so far I regret selling and I've mentioned it time and time again is my Dedicated KI2 cabinet to fund for my 1st Egret 2. It's tough though as american woody's aren't good for Apartment life. I will find another one.

I've had a few cave boards along the way and sold them without regret. Like Adderall said, I've now got a KI1 board back in my collection and its going to stay most likely until I die or get out of hobby.

I've only sold one game & that was my marvel vs street fighter cps2. Sold it for $50 locally with the a board. I regret it ever since.

Not big enough shmup fan to buy those cave pcbs. Mostly collect games I grew up playing.

I've been in the arcade scene for over a decade now and had quite a few stand alone JAMMA PCBs at one time. Here's most of what I've sold or traded over the years. The MVS carts on my list were either dupes I picked up in lots or extra bare carts I had from upgrading to kits.

I've not regretted anything I let go, most of it I either had my fun with or got a perfect/near perfect port version of. The amount of space 100+ PCBs take up in boxes is staggering. I'm now down to about 30 of the essentials I plan on keeping for the long haul in addition to my MVS, CPS2 and F-3 collections. I haven't picked up any new PCBs in the last couple years and there's honestly only a couple I'd like to add to the collection, other than that I'm happy with what I've got.

I need to play the actual hardware to see the true potential of a game. As such I've picked up a number of boards over the years that ended up being sold because I didn't feel the price justified the true arcade experience in the end.

The hardest ones to get rid of were In The Hunt, Rayforce, and Desert War. All of these are fun games, but I didn't feel like the price justified them sitting on the shelf and being pulled out once a year.

I bought my first arcade gear about 9 years ago. These are the PCBs I've either sold or traded away over the years. I have mixed feelings about regret. On one hand I don't have the space or even the time to enjoy these games to their fullest, not to mention the money invested. On the other hand I feel like I have separation anxiety sometimes because I can find little things to enjoy about each game. Sure emulation and ports are great, but there is just something intangible about playing a real PCB on an arcade setup.

Altered Beast
Captain Commando
Esprade (I bought it again)
Mars Matrix (x2)
1944
Side Arms
Aero Fighters
Progear (US version :crying:, and Japan version)
Mega Man 2
Vampire Savior
Super Street Fighter 2
Forgotten Worlds (duplicate)
Three Wonders
Final Fight (duplicate)
The Final Round
Dynasty Wars
Punisher (re-bought it)
Donpachi
Gokujou Parodius
Batrider (duplicate)
Marvel vs. Capcom
Street Fighter III New Gen
Street Fighter III 2nd Impact
Hook (broken)
Double Dragon (broken)
Alien Storm

In my case, it's a lot of Cave boards because that's what I enjoy the most. I've had multiple copies of these boards from trades and such. In fact I've still got multiple copies of some games, but I've lost the desire to trade, etc.

Plus, many of these games moved because I had an opportunity to make a few bucks. I paid over $1000USD for Ketsui and made money when I sold it, simply because the game was difficult to get ahold of at that time. I'm not in the hobby to make money, but it is nice when the opportunity to offset a loss on another game presents itself.

I think the only game I regret was possibly DFK 1.5, since it was a kit I bought brand new. My kids enjoyed that a lot b/c they can make good progress in the game when not played for score.

Altered Beast
Armored Police Unit Gallop
Dangun Feveron (good riddance)

Mr Driller
Out Zone
Street Figher II World Warrior

I mildly regret selling OutZone, only because I recently purchased FixEight... And FixEight just feels like a shitty OutZone. Otherwise, no regrets. Everything was sold or traded for a good reason.

Outside of redundant boards I have sold nothing off in my over decade of collecting.

I sold off my Naomi 2, AW, Neo etc about 5 years ago. I've only recently bought it all back. I do not plan on selling anything, rather be more careful of what I buy.

Too many MVS carts to count

Cave games are very easy to move so while I have had multiple copies of games most of the time it was a scenario like this:

Buy Galuda 2 kit, play for few months, trade for Deathsmiles kit. Rinse and repeat.

Never had a cabinet. Used to play them with a V1 MAK and AES Sticks.

Swapped them for an AES + Blazing Star eventually.

I've gotten rid of:

Daioujou (regret)
Radiant Silvergun (regret)
Strider 2 (regret)
Sunset Riders (regret)
Street Fighter Alpha 2
and a couple MVS games

Whenever money gets tight it's tempting to unload a Cave game. =P
