Anyone seen a Batrider PCB like this before? (HK special)

I have had this for a few years now and never could find out a clear answer on whether this was a boot or not. First red flag is the Raizing/8ing isn't screened near the Jamma connector. However the board is pretty much identical, with things that make it appear like a very early revision.

Here's a Korean version for comparison

You can see, on mine the two Actel chips are socketed, but on the Korean version they are soldered, but the socket outline is printed on the pcb.

Also the soldered Toshiba Z80 at the top on the Korean version, on mine it's a socketed Sharp instead.

It loads as Hong Kong region. But if you go into debug on any Batrider rom set, you can change region and HK is an option.

It's not uncommon for Asian versions of Japanese games to be made in China at a different factory. I've got a Korean board like the one pictured and I never noticed it was made in Japan until your post. I used to have a Chinese Battle Garegga and I remember it looking just like my Batrider. I still don't think yours is a bootleg and if it is it's a damn good one.

You're running some risks there placing the PCB on top of an antistatic bag like that. You might also want to tape up those windowed roms, especially before any more flash photography.

edit: alright so there's a small small chance the bag could cause a problem. but the resistance is stupid high and the board wasn't powered on so..

Wasn't flash photography, and those EPROMs need a good exposure to UV light to get messed up. So unless I'm leaving the board outside in the sun I don't think there will be an issue.

My old Batrider looked like yours SSS without the Raizing silkscreen. It's definitely a legit board. It may have started out as HK or some other region, I'm not sure. Mine had Japan B roms on it.
