Awesome. I have my Mame up and running on my PC now. I used to play this game back in my university game room. Haven't played for years. I hope you don't mind some CRAP scores from me - I'll make everyone feel better about their playing.

Crap scores are encouraged. It helps mediocre players feel good about themselves.;)

What up Jake! This game is tits.

Need to set up score tables for old/new versions tho.

My International version is tough man...wish my aux weapons didn't have gauge...save that custom combo ish for SFZ2. :^\

Wow! I don't remember this game being so good. I'm playing New/World rom set on Mame with a score of 653,433 Stage 1-3. This game sure ramps the difficulty up fast. I'm having tons of problems with the second level boss. I haven't played a scrolling shooter for years - Darius is getting me back into them. This crap is HARD~!

Scoreboard is up!

I made a board for Old Ver and New Ver. This is one of those games where external autofire (faster than the built-in autofire) can really change things, so make a note if you used external autofire or not.

So I've got two boards, one is new version and the other is hong long edition, any of you guys ever run across the HK edition? Looks like it has a mix of old and new on it.

Never played HK edition before. Does your option ammo run out like the japan old version? Does it have crazy fast bullets like the HK version of Donpachi?

From what I can tell, it does have an ammo gauge.,and bullets seem to be a bit faster than "New" version.

I got the 100% bonus in Stage 2. Man, that adds huge points.

There are two keys to gigantic stage-end bonuses: collecting extra medals, and 100% destruction bonus.

To get extra medals out of the carriers, wait for them to descend the screen and then destroy them as they start to go back up. They will drop about double medals as normal. There are also secret bonus medals worth vastly more than normal, however I've only seen one on stage 1; I've never seen a documented list or video of any others.

The difference between 99% and 100% destruction is literally double points, so definitely make an effort to learn where enemies may escape.

Ok, found the video that shows medal milking and 100% destruction on the first stage.
1.44 million on stage 1. :eek:
I don't recall getting that much till the end of stage 2 at least, so that's definitely better than I can do.

Nice vid! Getting the destruction bonus on Stage 1 is pretty hard. You have to have a thought out path and good execution. I haven't been able to do it yet. Stage 2 is much easier, you just choose the wide shot.
