Hi there,

New Neo Geo fan here. Right back as far as I can remember I've always wanted to own a Neo Geo, but the expense always made it feel like an impossible task.

Now I'm going to take that journey from Zero, not knowing a damn thing - other than the difference between mvs and aes, to being someone who is knowledgeable, or at least a little bit more so than previously.

I'm looking at the cmvs by Analogue to start and then over the course I'll look into collecting games and beyond that custom build a few items. I'm going to document everything and no doubt along the way I'll screw something up, but it's a journey of knowledge, right?

So, where to start? I'll start with an A-Z education in everything NG!

Cheers,
Ash

Hey Ashley. I was in the same position as you (didn't even know what an eprom was), but I knew that I loved Neo games and wanted to get in with as little resistance as possible. Personally, I went for the Omega CMVS (http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?231045-FS-Omega-Neo-Geo-CMVS-Systems-and-Kits). Getting up and running has been a completely painless process. The Analogue is really nice, but I was looking for something that looked more like an AES and matched the rest of my current consoles (didn't hurt that it also happened to be cheaper).

My biggest piece of advice? eBay is dookie ;) The for sale thread on this site is full of great people who tend to give pretty fair prices. eBay is packed to the gills with mutants.

Best of luck!

I'm new as well. My account was approved, though it won't let me make a new thread (ie: intro thread). If anyone can help, that would be great.

Wow, thanks for the warm reception!

I was actually under the impression that the Analogue was the way to go, but damn, it's expensive and it appears there are more CMVS models out there to consider. I have a 4 hour train journey tomorrow - so I'll use that time to check out the various models, you know - instead of working! I've uploaded my first video to YouTube as an ongoing diary, it's a record keeping thing so if you guys want to subscribe you're more than welcome. I'm not going to plug it so if you want to check them out I've put them in my sig.

Jonny: I love Scotland, they actually look after their roads there, unlike the craters on our side of the boarder, meh, stingy coalition, can't even sort our roads out.

Onwards and upwards!

Your account may have been approved... but you won't be able to create many threads yet....

... you can post in certain threads on certain forums...

Once enough posts have been achieved with enough time spent here (about 2 weeks)... you get full privileges... unless you have a friend to recommend you....

PS. Please post carefully and not TOO much spam.... kthx....

At one point eBay was ok a few years back, but I've had much more fun collecting from the trading forums. Some stuff you just can't really get from eBay. Your wallet is still gonna cry though! :)
