So yeah, which one would y'all pick? I've had an iPhone 4 for about 2 and a half years now, and I'm about to get a new phone. Think I'm leaning toward the Samsung, kinda bored with iOS, but just curious to hear what everyone around these parts has bought for themselves or would like to buy. (yes there's a poll if you're reading this before it goes up BE PATIENT YOU MONGRELS!).

Oh and there's only those two options on purpose. You HTC folks have to pick one of these for the sake of the poll, vote for one then whine accordingly in your post, 'kay?

I upgraded my five year old phone to an iPhone 5 a few months ago and I like it. I wanted to try out the GS3 but all three of them didn't work at the Verizon store when I went. I decided on the iPhone because I already have a 4th Gen iPod Touch so I've already got a few apps and music so all I had to do was put my account info into the phone and I had everything. I hear nothing but good things about the GS3 everybody that I know that owns it really likes it. When it comes to phones people act like we did as kids during the 90's with Sega Vs. Nintendo. You get people that are like white knights for either platform and they'll go apeshit if you praise another phone. Just go and try them out and see which one you like.

Apple sued Samsung because they fear their Korean Android power and loss of potential stranglehold on the mobile phone mass-market.

For this alone, respect must go to Samsung's S3.

Hypocritically, having never owned either whilst typing this very message out on my lovely iMac, I'd opt for the S3. I'm just not down with Apple outside their computing tech...

I'm posting this from my I phone 5 which is a big step from my old 3GS.

I am an Apple fan boy but I keep hearing such good things with the Samsung and could be swayed next time!

I decided to upgrade to the iphone 5, traded in my 2 year old iphone 4 at radio shack for $120. paid $80 out of pocket for the iphone.

If you think you can do that with any other phone, then do it. I don't think the samsung phones have resale value like that, but I tried the Note 2 and it was a dope phone. if I could use it with one hand, even better.

I'm using my s3 right now and I really like this phone. It's perfect for going on the internet since its screen is the perfect size. I also prefer the speaker and sound from the headphones better than my wifes headphones. If you aren't used to using mac products stick with android.

S3 costs more than the iphone 5 dingus.

Have an S3 and I love it. I will say its version of Siri is a bit dim witted, but it still works.

S3 because Apple Maps...plus, most android phones tend to be ahead of the times before Apple "innovates" it like how Sony "innovates" things...

Both have an 8 megapixel camera, so they should take perfectly fine nudes of your whatever future-ex you're dating right now.

Overall, I think they're about the same. Both equal power and shit. It's just a matter of what OS you prefer. iPhones are very "clean". Everything is easy, but less customizable . Androids are very customizable, but a lot things aren't as deadpan simply as an iPhone.

I have an Android and BB for work. Debating a 4S though.

However.......this.....the resale value is something to consider. 3GS iPhones still sell for $100-$125.

Anything Apple holds a strong used value. My MacBook is an intel, but it's old enough where the new OSX can't be installed on it. Despite this, I could still get $350 or so for it easy. No other laptop from that age range would fetch even $200.

Iphone 5 is definitely better. It loads apps faster, the internet loads faster and it has more interesting apps than android phones. I like the fact that it is a small but very capable and powerful smartphone. IOS is also superior to android anyday. Android has lag issues and viruses.

Does this comparison video seem fairly accurate to you?

Kind of what's got me leaning more towards the Samsung too.

Ah, I wasn't using Google Voice. There is a different voice command system on the phone you access by double clicking the center button. THAT is what I was talking about.

There is something to be said for Apples app review and such, however, 99.99999% of the "viruses" for android are trojaned applications that:
A. Have to be installed by the end user
B. Aren't available on the offical play store (i.e. they have to be downloaded from unofficial marketplaces, which is common in China)
C. have to ask for tons of permissions that the app would not normally ask for. If a simple game is asking for permission to take photos, make calls, send text messages, etc., you should know something is wrong.

As far as lag issues, my old POS android phone had them. My galaxy series phone does not.

Owned both, S3 is better.

The OS crashes less, the Google Play store seems to have certain things cheaper and the look seems to be more customizable. I'm not a big nerd about personalizing things, but the OS on the S3 seems to work flawlessly, and applications seem to load faster. I like the size and form of the phone as well.

As far as resale value, I see the S3s retaining value over time, they're damn good machines.

Once the iPhone5 came out, the 4 and the 4S took a huge drop in price ( the price with a 2-year contract ).

I know some people always want the latest greatest shit, but right now landing a new 4S for $50-$100 is an amazing deal. The 4S is one hell of a phone. Enough of one where I seriously don't see why you'd actually need a 5.

Hell, I have a Galaxy 2II and I don't see a single need for more "power" from a phone. Nothing I do ever lags the phone out ever.

I am curious about the new BlackBerry 10 though. For a "work" phone, I still actually prefer BB. Email system is second to none.
