Another cool thing about the PCB is you can boot into a special mode with stage select.

That's true about the visuals. Even with the pcb, there is so much going on visually it's easy to lose focus of the bullets, plus sniping is a real threat with all of the turrets. Is there a game out there that has as much shrapnel and flying debris as Ibara?

Probably not. Garegga has tons of shrapnel, but it's not a scratch on Ibara. I've never played Kuro or PS, but I'm guessing it's similar.

I've fallen in love with Ibara over the past two days. I've played a lot of traditional Cave the past few years and Ibara has similar depth but an entirely different feel.

You bomb more often than you shoot, and purposely suicides left and right to keep the rank down. Just about everything you see the pros do is contrary to what this genre considers as normal.

That doesn't mean it's not fun. I'm having a blast with the PS2 version.
