Gunlord did get quite a few positive reviews.. 25 pre-orders could be filled easily for Fast Striker :D

You lose 10% of your money with kickstarter. Also they've set a bunch of new rules lately about kickstarter projects that appear to be "stores."

Benefits, tradeoffs.

I know what you mean, but they're not a store. They really are a development team and they are no different than the numerous other developers out there that are looking to Kickstarter to fund their development efforts. I still think it is something worth considering. Plus the 10% can be worked into the price. Just shoot for 10% higher than what makes it worth your while. Basically, cover your bases. ;) Either way, this or a pre-order, I'm up for it. I really would like to get a Fast Striker MVS cart, and I'd put up 350 Euro to make it happen.

Fast Striker needs a different ROM configuration to our other games and thus is risky to reprint. We would need at least 25 fully pre-paid orders @ 350 EUR to pull this off...

I think you should plan the reprint around March or April 2013, around when every gets the tax returns. I am down for sure just tell me when. If it happens to be sooner I will just sell stuff to put my money down for one.

Ahermm... the world doesn't revolve around the USA...

Open the pre order for 30 days, see how it goes, if you don't get at least 25 order then just refund the money.

If the exchange rate changes over that 30 days, some people could be out some money with nothing to show for it.

thems the brakes.

Currency generally doesn't change that much over a month anyway.

Take this past 30 days for example, a 5 cent per Euro change for 350 Euros amounts to a total of $17.50.

http://www.exchange-rates.org/history/USD/EUR/G/30

That's the cost of doing business in mixed currencies. It's nothing that can be helped. 30-days is fair, and if you're out $15-25, then it was the cost of giving it a shot and the deal falling through. It's a risk you'll need to consider before you decide if you want to do a pre-order or not. It definitely isn't something that would deter me from getting in on it. And hey, if you're so worried about it, don't buy in until day 29 or so. Seems like an easy fix. It gives people enough time to save up if they need to and commit to buy without asking for all the money tomorrow. Seems completely fair to me.

Umm... that amount is BEFORE paypal takes their cut in the conversion, and since it's both ways (purchase + refund) you're paying the cut twice.

If you're that worried about it, I'd say this isn't the right thing for you. It's hard to say that and not have it sound horrible, but really, if you're worried about the nickel and diming of exchange rates and Paypal fees for an item like this (if the deal falls through) then you probably should just wait for a copy to show up from a US seller later on.

Edit: Also, I deal a lot in buying things overseas. I have an AMEX card for that, and I use it through Paypal. I do not get dinged on the cost of exchange, either way, if something were to go wrong. I've also had money refunded to me via Paypal. Excellentcom just did that last week in the amount of $30 from an order I did through Paypal with my AMEX card. It showed up as a $30 credit on my AMEX the next day. So.... Not really sure what you mean by those fees anyway.

Basically i concur with what rabbittroop is saying. I import goods for a living, if i had to worry about what the currency was doing in a months tim i may as well shut up shop. If you can afford a €350 game im pretty sure losing $15 isnt going to kill you.. Or is it? Hey, the dollar might even go the other way and you could make $15!

That $15 isn't going to kill buyers who can put up 350 Euros for a game. It's going to kill their reputation instead.

I would be willing to buy the required 19 copies to get us over the line but I can't vote more than once.

Too risky. If they get hit by a chargeback on 19 copies all at once, they'd go out of business. You'll have to paypal gift them.

oddly enough I was kind of thinking I'd be down to do the same thing, though the exchange rate would be colorful lol.
