I'm seriously thinking about buying like 50 of these and at least that many of each game released on it just so I can put it in a storage locker and tell people about it 20 years later.

Ever since I read those DavidG posts I've been wanting to get a storage locker. It just sounds so cool.

Hey, let me get back to you.. that's in my storage locker and my Bimmer is in the shop.

I asked tommo in an email asking about whos manufacturing NEO GEO X, this is their response:
Tommo representative said:
Thank you for your inquiry.

We can only tell you that Neo Geo X is made in China.

Thanks,

Is there a patent on this device? LOL, made in China. The knockoffs would probably be the same build quality but say NIO GIO or gamecast.

I can't believe I just watched a few minutes of a guy awkwardly holding a portable game system.
I wonder if he was holding it that way to obscure the camera's view of the thing as little as possible.

And RB2 has such an easy combo system that I would be a hell of a lot more impressed to see how well the buttons and all work doing some combination arts rather than this guy just busting out a lot of random special moves like a retard.

I hope and pray that the NM implementation has netcode so I can finally play competitive NM for the first time in 10 years.

The sexiest thing about owning one of these is the docking station. My psp already does a awesome job as a neo handheld but I'm curious to see how this does.

I dont know if you read it, but it opens like a clam shell. I wish it went into the slot.

I didn't notice that part, I was hoping it would just slide into the slot too. Personally I would of been fine with a normal looking docking station for the handheld, something similar to the PSP Go's, that had the controller ports, but this items selling point is nistalgia so I can understand going for the AES design dock.

That is so stupid. I thought it would slide in the cart slot like a home cart game. Now Its no longer sexy again.

If it was to slide into the cart slot, people would bitch about insertion marks.

We always find something to bitch about, we are on the NG forums after all.

Sliding it into the slot with say a 60 degree angle would make more sense than anything. Having the port connector on the side would also allow it to dock properly as well as become a portable viewing station.

That clamshell shit is so dumb.

Well it's very possible that was just an early prototype and they hadn't added a dock connector yet when you consider that the portable unit wasn't a final one and didn't even have the same CD/AB button layout that is on there now.

God, please let me be right on this one lol

I love how they haven't updated their site with the button layout yet, that is asuming that they are going with the layout that we see in the movie. I really hope it is because I don't think I could get use to my weak punches at the bottom of the button.

The button layout in the video and the earliest pictures is:

:A::B:
:C::D:

The one they are going with and the one they changed it to is the NeoCD layout:

:A::B:

Yeah I guess it's a bit weird on MoTW style 4 button fighters for some, but it seems natural for most other games on the Neo for me, Metal Slug, Last Blade, Real Bout, Blazing Star, Windjammers, Neo Driftout etc. having a and b up top would be SO bizarre with some of those.

:B::D:
:A::C: could probably work with some stuff too but dang that looks weird lol

I'm interested in having this as my dedicated 'living room' NeoGeo set-up for use on my HD Panel TV, providing (as has been queried) it does have upscaling and scanline functionality in the emulation software. The portability, for me, is just a bonus of the whole package.

I also hope that the base will accept generic USB controllers too, for example, I'd like to be able to use the NeoGeoPad3 with it if I can, or even a USB Saturn controller for friends etc.

Chances are as well, that the sticks that come with the base WILL be the same as the Wii & PS3 sticks released a while ago. A good way to resell unsold/unallocated units basically that haven't yet been logo'd up etc.

I'm really looking forward to it although I'm a bit skeptical as to how they will distribute further titles.

I won't just buy this to support SNK(P) though, just like I didn't ever buy SNK games to support SNK before them. I bought their games because I loved and enjoyed them, and the same applies to this device too; if I like it, I'll buy it - if I don't, I wont - SNK or whoever. Simple really...

I guess there's no word of a canuck retailer for this one?

I also found no canuck retailers. So I sent tommo an e-mail suggesting they do it.
