I... KIND OF... finished my DC VGA mod.. I think something is up with the H-sync.. it's not working properly, but then again I really crammed the wires in. I'll have to figure out what's happening with it... or just get a VGA box.

So today I finally got a chance to work on my Naomi Universal/Net City cab some more. Bought a new control panel, and monitor bezel. Decided to remove the Toshiba A68KJU96X (same tube inside an Egret 2 and New Astro City) since it had a little burn in that bugged me. Replaced it with a Toshiba A68LBT696X (same tube inside a Blast City) and put in the Nanao MS-2933 tri-sync chassis I just picked up. Only thing left to do now is install the JVS to JAMMA adapter I got from FrancoB and I can run basically anything inside this cab.

Where did you get the Toshiba tube?

I had the tube from a Blast City where the chassis went bad on me. I didn't buy it brand new or anything, cuz those are impossible to find brand new.

Finished cleaning the outside of the E2 and removing all that can be taken off with magic erasers. Originally thought I was going to repaint this due to what felt like gouges in paint but most have been removed. Side Art is beat up more than I'd like but not completely trashed. There are some minor dents thin and long dents in the right side of the cabinet. I originally thought I could pound these out, but they are so slight that you can't even feel anything on the inside of the cabinet, so I'm not sure if I can do anything with them.

Got the atomiswave 1p panel removed and put on my old E2 2L8B panel. I'll keep the 1L6B Atomiswave panel for when I have fight night events for 1on1 play. Need to order an extra stick and some buttons and get them installed. After that it will be all finished and ready to play.

looks so much better, thx to 300wins for the tips.

edit: that's not paint on the bezel, it's a reflection of a smudge. haven't gotten to detailing the exterior yet.

Did you use the Krylon stuff I suggested?

Finally got around to doing something I should have done looong ago: replacing the batteries in my Naomi's netdimm board.

1. Got some a 2pack of Panasonic CGR18650 18650 2250mAh Li-ion 3.6v Battery. 16$ shipped on Ebay.

2. took the old battery pack apart and soldered in the new batteries, secured it all with a little duck tape...

3. I even recycled the plastic wrap cause I'm a big hippie. :D

PS. I used Pete's tutorial: http://www.sega-naomi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1278

I actually forgot you made a paint suggestion:crying: I ended up just going to Lowes and getting a standard gloss white paint. I did several layers as the can suggests, but I guess I didn't do the left side speaker quite enough because when you look straight at it, you can see some yellow coming through. I'm leaving it for now though, those speakers were a bitch to get back in there.:very_ang:

guys, I promise that this is the last time I'm going make a padhack completion post as I'm now doing them all the time, but This is a pretty big deal.

In the last 5 days, I've completed 8 padhacks:

Five dreamcast hacks (with Madcatz dreampads.. NO BUTTON LAG!):

WP_000715.jpg

WP_000716.jpg

One of these was for Jassin000, and he asked for a custom screw terminal setup:

A 360 padhack, which I've shown before so no pics needed (for Chempop.. he ordered this and a DC box from me)

And three for 300wins: A DC padhack, a Genesis hack, and a SNES hack:

Needless to say, I was a busy boy this weekend! Thanks for everyone's patience while I was waiting for parts.

That said, I'm open to the idea of doing another batch of padhacks, if there's enough interest. If I get enough PMs, I'll post a thread in the ZDTF page.

Professional looking boxes, very nice. Do the start button and the other buttons share a common on the dreampadz?

yep. dreampads (like all the pads I've hacked) have common grounds! there are three revisions to the boards and I ended up getting 5 pads for each of the revisions.. the best ones have through holes for the buttons, which make it east to do this. I did not get those. :(

I think the best way to figure which ones have what boards is the color of the controller

grey - Through holes

Half grey/Half seethrough - revision 2 (green PCB)

100% see through - Revision 3 (brown PCB)

anyway, done ranting.

oooh i need to try that. I attempted it w/ an xacto knife and seemed like it was going to take forever. So you just heated up the blade first?

I have different tips for my soldering Iron, and one is an xacto-type blade. It took some time and it's not pretty, but it works!

I suspect that tonight I will finish button hacking a Neo Kidney stick. I wasn't sure if I was really going to be capable of pulling it off but I'm confident now that I can finish it.
