I recently picked up extension cords for the neo and famicom clones for $4.50 each + shipping. They arrived yesterday.

For the joystick, why not start with the normal cable, and offer a wireless upgrade for anyone interested in that?
At the end, maybe the molding of the connector is a good solution. That way you would also have market for extensions, that right now are above 35 dlls!

I still can't believe he has stock. When I discovered a warehouse that had the same type of cables I sold them for less than half his price for the community. 1 for $17 and 2 for $25. 500 units went really quick.

I'd have to think about it but it sounds like a tricky thing to offer an upgrade kit to turn a wired stick into a wireless one especially if it requires soldering. I could always offer two separate products but I rather go for the one stick to control them all approach.

Then i would strongly suggest the usb thing you had in mind. This way it can be wired for the tournaments (why is there a rule against wireless in those?) and wireless for people like me who avoid wires whenever they can since in my case i always will need extension cords which leaves a mess to trip over...

Potentially, you could be up "playing" and your badass friend is actually for you somewhere else.

Yeah, Tototek. I have some since before and they have worked fine for me for many years. yes they are abit short so you would possibly need two, but thats still a third or less of that 30+ dollars someone mentioned. That is just ridiculous for an extension cord.

I've looked for the deep socket ones too, but could not find. If you could mold your own that would be great. Do you think you could mold them for the OMEGA and for the new joystick your making?

I know it may be a little early to ask but... shadowkn55, how long will it take you to get the joystick project completed and selling? Just to plan ahead.

You mean the controller port or the plug? Doing the new port isn't practical but it looks like I'm going to end up molding my own plug. If I'm going that far, I may as well add a little spice to it a la usb/wireless. The company name will be etched into the plug and omega will be silkscreened on the face of the stick.

The joystick base is complete already. I need to work out the design on the controller plug now and see how feasible a wireless design would be. That's going to take at least a couple weeks to research and test.

It also depends on the backlog at the machine shop. I caught them at a back time when I first submitted the work order for the omega which is why it took so long. Things are good now but that may change after I draw out the new connector. After I submit the work order, I'll have a good idea of how long. I'd like to submit both of them at once so I can try to work out some sort of package deal.

On the usb dongle note. if you go with that, were you considering a reciever thats more of a one piece design, or like some of the older IR-recievers which had a cable and then the reviever box? I would personally like to see as little wires as possible hehe.

I'm aiming for something like the ps3 controller. It'll be wireless without the usb cable and charging with the cable.

If I do the non-wireless method, it'll still be a usb dongle that would be pc compatible and what ever other dongles I create for other systems.

yeah but im wondering if the dongle will be a module hanging from a wire that you connect, or like a usb stick. Im having a hard time describing what i mean... Like my 3DO wireless controller has the reciever connected via a wire to the console, where as my Sega Megadrive wireless controller has a reciever with no wires. It would be neater if you could make one that plugs into the console directly, thats all i mean.

It would be something like the ps2 wireless controller. The dongle will plug straight into the controller port and have a usb port in the front.

I think it would be best to have both the transmitter and receiver as attachments. This way you can just have a female DB15 on the stick in case people want to go wired by attatching an extension cord or go wireless by attaching the transmitter to the DB15 female. That way you can make the same stick and it also opens up a market for others that want to go wireless on their AES, CMVS or Neo CD/CDZ by just using the wireless atachments.

The problem with that approach would be that the batteries would need to be stored in the transmitting dongle. In order to get a decent amount of play before the next recharge is required, you'd have to put a good sized battery in it. It could result in an unwieldy attachment sticking out of my joystick that is subject to bending or snapping off due to shear weight or accidents.

My wireless Neo sticks last quite some time on 2 AA batteries. I've used them for more than 15 hours before needing a recharge, longer with non-rechargeables.

It probably was left out when I upgraded the shopping cart to magento. I'm having the site moved onto a dedicated server so the current host doesn't handle the site/traffic that well anymore. PM me for details and I'll get that kit sent your way.

Any chance you'll update the design to accept memory card support if/when the support for the MV-1C is completed?
